James McCarthy

Well, there's really only Barkley who McCarthy would 'naturally' replace in the centre.

Unless he got played at left back instead of Bry
Well, pressing and the absence of it all over the park was the problem according to the manager, so I guess he could have slotted in at any of the CM and RB positions.

It's two games on the spin that's been atrocious. Are we really saying that we have nailed on places for those who played well in a few games before them?

Cleverley played very well when he came on, I thought. I would have put him in instead of McCarthy. Think Jimmy and Gana are too alike
I did too. And it underlines that any notion that we have a settled CM partnership this early is bogus. Listen to Koemans words yesterday: he clearly states that only in games where all the team presses in unison can Barry have any effect. He obviously sees limits to Barry's game if plan A goes west...which it will do a lot more times this season. I wouldn't argue about Gueye at the moment. He's about the only one in the team who genuinely should be down every game for a start....but who's to say he won't dip in form?

He doesnt state such a thing David, at no point does he mention Barry, if anything he was calling out Rom and Ross, the 2 non pressers in the team.

Roy Keane is tough on a football pitch when he can break your leg with a slide tackle and get away with it

Whether he'd be up for a proper scrap these days, where he could actually get in trouble with the law as consequence, might be different
I'm not really considering him a scrapper off the field but he is tough as they come. Maybe even the best midfielder ever in the Premier league, certainly a contender anyway. Definitely one of the best ever in a green jersey.

He was mental in his younger days, especially with his cousins on the Ireland away days. I've met him a few times, a nice guy and not as intense as you would expect but still has authority.

I'm still pro Mick McCarthy though ;)

Sorry, it wasn't in his video interview it was with the press pack later:

“If Barry plays midfield and we give them space, then it’s difficult for him, but if we are compact, it’s not."

Point made.

I AM the law.
