I disagree, it happens all over the world, we arent the only team that gets shafted by International managers.

The Netherlands coach slammed his Roma counterpart following accusations Netherlands are responsible for the midfielder's latest injury woes

Netherlands coach Danny Blind has hit back at Luciano Spalletti in the wake of the Roma coach's accusations that Kevin Strootman was "butchered" on international duty.

Strootman missed Roma's win over Napoli and their Europa League draw with Austria Vienna due to a back injury after featuring for Netherlands in both World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and France.

Spalletti blamed Netherlands' medical staff for the influential midfielder's absence, but Blind feels the Roma boss will likely just have been frustrated by his side's inability to beat Austria Vienna.

"I am offended by these comments," Blind told De Telegraaf.

"If he was unable to play due to a back injury, then why did Roma even allow him to travel to the national team after we discussed his situation with the staff and Strootman himself?

"I was in touch with him every day during our training camp to see if he was fit after such a lengthy spell on the sidelines. We even took him off against Belarus when the result was safe with an eye on the game against France.

"He told me he had some back problems [after missing the game against Napoli], but he told me he would be able to play again on Thursday.

"I don't know whether Spalletti was just frustrated that Roma gave away a 3-1 lead against Austria Wien or whether there's something else, but this is a pretty strange story if you ask me.

"We always look after our players with the national team. These accusations are nonsense."

I got an alert saying I was quoted here...did you get one @Eggs?

Ah...btw I agree with your post...it happens all the time. It's not like that snake Bilic who bled us dry and still found time to play for his country.

International managers dont care a thing for clubs, they dont care if the player they play breaks down 5minutes into a game, they dont care if they send the player back broken, they only care about their jobs, their jobs depend on results, if a certain player can get them a result, they will play them.

I see no issue with this approach personally, its what we would all do.

......there will always be club v country disagreements, there will always be injuries to players on international duty. All I'm saying is that if a player has not been available for his club prior to an international break he should stay at home. We have players with lengthy injuries who we then allow to join their countries which is crazy.

Biggest disgrace at the club (including Niasse), cannot understand how he got a contract extension. Absolute waste of wages.
That's a whopping benchmark of disgrace there, but I agree with you - Gibson shames the royal Blue jersey. Should be drop-kicked into a skip, if anyone had a foot big enough to shift the gigantic doss-bag out of Finch Farm.

martin o'neill just trolling us and koeman now by selecting him in latest squad.
I dont blame O'Neil. McCarthy is fit and demonstrated it last two games for the RoI. If Koeman is too 'kin arsey to play him trying to 'prove a point' then I wouldn't give a flying one if I was McCarthy: I'd just play my way to fitness and get out in January, which is what Koeman wanted in the summer anyway - as the failed Sissoko bid proved.

McCarthy has a decision to make....if indeed that decision has not already been taken out of his hands.

He is injured at present and has been injured for most of the season already. It would be very easy for him to say that he is not quite ready to play the international games but will be ready to play for the club very shortly afterwards.

If he decides to join up with the Irish squad then to me that is an acceptance that he has no Everton future under RK.
