McCarthy has a decision to make....if indeed that decision has not already been taken out of his hands.

He is injured at present and has been injured for most of the season already. It would be very easy for him to say that he is not quite ready to play the international games but will be ready to play for the club very shortly afterwards.

If he decides to join up with the Irish squad then to me that is an acceptance that he has no Everton future under RK.

What would it tell you if he joins up, plays the 90 minutes?
 
the point here is that it was McCarthy himself who declared he was fit and able to play for most for of the last 2 qualifiers. MON was hardly going to leave him out after that. think Ronny is barking up the wrong tree here as he was still OK when he rejoined the club for training.

Justy been listening to O'Neil and he;'s saying he's doubtful. So that;ll be that.

I think it's just him and Koeman carrying on an argument.

Koeman has acted like a big kid. He doesn't want McCarthy and will be selling him so I doubt he really cares if McCarthy is here or over there. If he's here though he'll bench him or declare him injured and wont play him. I dont blame JM looking to keep in the loop and in the public eye for a transfer.

Maybe RK thinks he can pull rank on O'Neil...in which case O'Neill can show him his two EC winners medals. :coffee:

why would he embarrass himself, koeman would just get his two out plus the mountain of other medals!

National success is based on being born in the country that has a realistic chance of honours. Probably trump him more with club football achievements like the La Ligas he won...O'Neill could counter only with an English title.
 
I thought it was wrong of Koeman to talk about it at a press conference. If he has concerns on how his players are treated by international managers then it should be taken up with them in private. I don't think either of them have covered themselves in glory on this one.
