Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

Seen a few articles that paint it out to be an illogical signing. I can only assume that these writers have not seen us play for the past few seasons?

While it's high-profile and probably quite expensive, it's considerably lower risk than some of our more bizarre signings of late. He's just turned 29, his form has not suffered the dramatic fall off from 2014 that the pundits lazily regurgitate, but above all, he's exactly what the squad has been missing. None of them know how to play football FFS. I don't think we even created a chance from open play post-lockdown.

He might not adjust, or he might be injured more than he's available, but for a 2 to 3 year deal, for £20m(!), with all the marketing and footballing potential he brings, he's about the most logical signing I think we've ever made.

There will always be some who have a down on our club.

We've had a DoF-manager 'duopoly' in place for 4 years - it's wasted half a billion quid. Brands is part of that.
A lesser part, the real damage was done with Walsh / Koeman. Anyone can waste money, managers or DoF. The direction was set by Morshi who permitted the spending.
I can’t see how Brands is any more culpable than anyone else really. He’s bought players that managers have wanted and Morshi has agreed to fund.
When he was brought in, he had a reputation for identifying youngsters. That part of his role was largely negated with the transfer ban.
With Branthwaite and Nkounkou brought in, he does seem to be good at this. They are the sorts of signing that are good for the club.
With Gbamin, we don’t know whether he is any good, Brands can’t be blamed for his injury.
Iwobi I’ll give you. Kean is part of the youth policy and would always take a season to settle.
For me, the biggest mistake was Koeman. He was never a fit at Everton and we’re still suffering the after shocks including dealing with the players signed by Sam.

Far too early to state that.

As ever, the comments section is infested with RS. They deffo don’t care about us though..

It’s a less wild assumption than your accusations.
I think we all agree that huge sums have been wasted. If this was public money, there would be an inquiry.
However, the fact that three managers and one DoF have been sacked gives me an idea of where Morshi sees the responsibility.
By far and away most waste cane during the Koeman / Walsh / Allardyce period.

I
I would like to think our club has thoroughly evaluated when a transfer can be done but the esk surely must know better.
Is Esk a mini Moshiri accountant? Does he know the exact inner workings of Everton Football Club or is he just a fan who likes fancy spreadsheets and worked in the city for awhile so thinks he knows everything about the world of finance? Generally interested to know why he always thinks we are skint and down cash converters looking to cash in anything we've got to allow us to survive, only to be proven horribly wrong every transfer window.

Even he must know he's now a parody of himself....
