What are we actually playing at though?

I’ll assuming it’s a case of James not being here next season regardless, so we’re just trying to ship out early, but for god sake… Gomes, Sigurdsson, Delph, Davies, Kenny, Tosun are all still in the books… bin them off.

Why cant we boot James and sign a creative player who actually works hard and is fit for most of the season?

In some people's mind it seems James is the only creative player in the universe.
Who? And why would they come here? Oh, and they'd have to be free, because we're skint.

Im a big believer of in the modern game of the ESL 6, FFP etc that clubs like us dont win trophies or qualify for Europe by playing like Man City as we simply aint good enough. We punch above our weight by being hard working, tough to beat, 100% put in every week with that little bit of quality sprinkled on top.
Nothing modern about your view. You are proposing that we become an equivalent team to Wimbledon in the 80s or Bolton in the 90s/00s. Where are those sides now, btw?

You tell Diego Simeone that his Athletico Madrid sides play like Wimbledon or Ranieri that his title winning Leicester side were long ball over the top merchants.

Fans like yourself are still living in the 80's mate - we aint good enough anymore to win shiny stuff outplaying the opposition we have to find another way.

I don't think it's got anything to do with FFP mate. Clash of personalities and the fact that at best he would only be here for a year. We don't know if James (or his agent) is trying to angle a way out, they might have been non committal and we've gone fine leave then.

It is. It's why even before Rafael became boss the noise from the club was that we'd listen to offers for him. He's not on the transfer list but he's one we wouldn't stand in the way of leaving.

Yes there's an issue between Rafael and the player (which I think is purely down to personalities than anything bad), but anyone at the club who's on £100k or more a week is generally open to leave. FFP is one of the reasons why rather than it being forced to sell them.

I think the club would love to but no one is stupid enough to give us cold hard currency for them. Sure we could fully pay their contracts and ship them out but then you have to pay incoming players to be back up thus doubling up and that doesn't make sense either. Tosun and Delph will be gone by next summer. Siggy may be off the wage bill soon.
