Like every football team on the planet. And you want to lob away the quality sprinkled on top. Played similar games as £100m Grealish last season.

Villa struggled without Grealish in the side we didnt without James thats the difference mate.

We had a season defining match at home to Sheff Utd and the bloke was trying to get himself sent off as he wanted nothing to do with the battle with the side sat 20th in the table.

Carlo indulging the lad, giving him time off as he was "tired". Flying off before the season had even finished leaving his team mates behind.

You cant create a siege mentality in the squad with that type of player - add in he's only ever fit for half a season is there any wonder why the club have put him up for offers?

I was a big critic of his at the end of last season with him missing games, but it would be a shame to have a player of his ability and somehow not find a system to fit him in.
He is the type of player the crowd love to watch in person, and he would feed massively off that.

I never expected him to show up pre-season, so fair play he seems to have turned up and seemingly wants to be a part of things, seems like it’s us who don’t want him.
To be honest, I reckon there are a couple of clubs looking for his services. I'd say he agreed to take part in the friendly with the Colombian team without much talk of a move leaking. Now that's done, the soundbites are starting as his agent tries to get him the biggest signing on fee.
Benitez won't give a crap if he stays or leaves so, as he pretty much said, he'll leave.
More's the pity.

Siege mentality? These players are the biggest bunch of sh!ts ever to wear the shirt. The only guarantee is they let you down when it matters. The only mentality this lot have is a losing mentality.

Periera: 11 goals 6 assists last season

James: 6 goals 4 assists last season

Different class indeed :hayee:

And Periera doesn't take a month off every time he feels "tired" leaving us with Iwobi in the starting 11.
But but james is injury prone and played less games.

So he's better???

Exactly and thats the problem mate and why we need to let someone like Benitez who doesn't suffer fools gladly time to rebuild the squad.

Players like James who thinks he's bigger than the club

Players like Iwobi who ducks out of 50/50's

Players like Delph who abuses his own team mates whilst being utter dirge.

Players like Gomes who picks up a knock and is signalling to come off right away even if he could likely play on

These are the types of players we need rid off not keeping them around! People forget what made us win the FA Cup under Royle and sadly had we not had 3-4 of our best players injured in the FA Cup Final under Moyes we might have won that one as well - fight, commitment, energy, pace, desire, hunger - things that cant be coached.

You need quality still of course - we need to sign more Richarlison's who get booted around the pitch but keep on going, Godfreys who are flying into tackles, DCL's putting in a shift up top. These players are out there we have to start finding them whilst booting players who are dragging us down regardless of how "talented" they may be.

I was under the impression that he wanted to leave. Now I’m under the impression that we don’t want him. He isn’t the best athlete, or the most reliable player we have. However, he has by far the most quality. We need to stop getting rid of our best players, or we will always be poor. James might not get into the best teams in the world, but if he’s near fit, he walks into ours. Don’t sell him, unless we’re going to get better, and we’re not!
