I don't think he's the only creative player in the world but I do think he's in a class of player who never in a million years would sign for Everton. He only came to the club because of Ancelotti and may stay because his injury record is not desirable.
It's all a matter of opinion but I'd take him for 26 games over what ever creative player Brands and Benitez will sign for 38.
As for the goodison crowd. There's plenty of belters who gave Lukaku crap. I mean, if we're going to sign players based on a few clowns who get a dopamine rush out of thinking they're a football pundit rather than a fan, there's not much point to any of this. (that second bit was directed at Miff)
I was a big critic of his at the end of last season with him missing games, but it would be a shame to have a player of his ability and somehow not find a system to fit him in.
He is the type of player the crowd love to watch in person, and he would feed massively off that.

I never expected him to show up pre-season, so fair play he seems to have turned up and seemingly wants to be a part of things, seems like it’s us who don’t want him.

Periera: 11 goals 6 assists last seasonan

James: 6 goals 4 assists last season

Different class indeed :hayee:

And Periera doesn't take a month off every time he feels "tired" leaving us with Iwobi in the starting 11.

The West Brom one, or the United one?

Cos the West Brom one has chipped off to Saudi or Oman for serious cash. (for him)

And the United one is pure mince.

WBA mate - nothing agreed yet although Leicester and West Ham are rumoured to be looking at him.

If we had sense we would try move James on and bring him or someone similiar in.

The sooner James goes for me the better though - the lad epitomises the mentality he/Carlo have of thinking they are bigger than the club. He wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes with his mentality under the great sides of years gone by.

I would rather we kept James personally. I get the injury thing, but he is just a beautiful footballer to watch.

But I doubt we will. And there is no point trying to find a player that is "similar", cos there isnt one on the market.

I think the problem is largely people have an idea of what they want to see from Everton and what Everton actually are at present is completely different which they try fight against.

Im a big believer of in the modern game of the ESL 6, FFP etc that clubs like us dont win trophies or qualify for Europe by playing like Man City as we simply aint good enough. We punch above our weight by being hard working, tough to beat, 100% put in every week with that little bit of quality sprinkled on top.

James for me would look brilliant on Man City or Chelseas bench, rotating every now and again and having 70% possession of the ball every game.

He isn't any use to us in a defensive/compact side that needs to rely on pace and energy in defending and breaking with speed.

I get why people cling on to the idea of him as he's extremely talented and not seeing him in the flesh is gutting but taking the romanticism away from it we would operate much better with someone younger, faster, less injury prone and more committed/hungry even if they couldn't spray 60 yard hollywood passes every game (they still would need a bit of quality like!).

The fact we won more games without James than with him last season is very telling.
