TBH I think it is very shortsighted of the Club, and Benitez, not to keep James for the remainder of his contract. Specially if the Club's strategy is to continue growing our brand globally and our fan base too. The amount of exposure and commercial revenue that James can generate is tremendous and the club knows it otherwise they would have not make him the main figure and the main advertising face during their recent visit to the US. It is James who brought many supporters to the stadium last month, it was James the one who brought supporters like myself and @UptheTofees to the Blues and now we have found in Everton a club that we wish to continue following even after our Colombians are not part of the squad, but we would have never become so attached to Everton had it not been because James attracted us to the Club in the very first place. Moreover, James outreach is not just among Colombians and South Americans but he has a great amount of fans in Asia and the US.

Then when it comes to productivity in terms of goals and assist, I don't see anyone that we could sign up for the money we are willing to let him go. I still wonder who does Benitez thinks will help us with such contribution that's not going to cost us big cash. Moreover, posters here complaining that James costs too much for the amount of time he plays should look at around at our neighbors, Liverpool signed Thiago for a higher fee than James and he was injured several times last season and didn't generate the same goal or assist out put as James did but Klopp still values him and considers him to be a big part of his midfield but at Everton James is look down :(
Don't worry, Everton have good experience in exploiting the commercial market.

Rumours online that hes begging to leave. If they are true (might be nonsense) we should let him go. Having a player who doesn't want to be here is not good for the squad.
If he is begging to leave now it is because he was told by Benitez that he won't use him, James stated before that he wanted to stay and finish his contract. Unlike people that claim that he is lazy he wants to earn his salary playing not staying put and warming up the bench so of course he now wants to leave, any competitive player wants to play.

I think he's staying, as nobody will pay his wages. One season with hopefully 30 games from him would be nice.
Sometimes I think so too and according to the reports coming from Spain and Caracol's Colombia (one the main news outlets), Mendes has offered James to seven teams: Milan, Sevilla, Roma, Zenit of Saint Petersburg, Paris Saint Germain, Atletico Madrid and Ajax, None of the clubs have shown enough interest or send an offer, so he may have to stay at least for now. What worries me is having a player with such football skills and big salary sitting on the bench just because Benitez doesn't want to use him.

Pointless buying a dog from the UK if he’s planning on moving to Spain or Italy as the dog won’t even speak the language.
The rumour i heard he was joining a club in South Korea and taking the dog with him . As they say in korea a dog is not just for Christmas you can , eat one every day

This shows that the interest in JR is not very high. So here the salary must be adjusted.

Secondly, even if JR is not in Rafael's plans, it is up to JR to disprove Rafael's assessments. That is, to meet the requirements of the manager. If he does, I'm sure Rafael will use him. But then he may have to play football in a different way than he prefers, but that's how it is to be a professional.

They are high for someone who isn't playing all the time? Iwobi, Delph, The other 31 year old( He who must not be named), Tosen. Would be better off our pay rather than James. I can just see its a case of who do you let go when you know, the only way they will go is when their contracts are up?
The only one of those we can get rid of us

Of course the others would be better gone, but no one would touch them. Also from an accounting point of view, Tosun is still worth about £5.5m. We would need to recover that to avoid posting even more of a loss.

Salary must be adjusted?? If only things worked out that way haha

Delph would be on a pic a mix selection and 2 wham bars a week.

Theres a saying in Colombia : "to be a coach (football coach) You only need 2 photos And be stubborn" . If a coach tells You straight that he won't use You .. is Game over , good Game , adiós . If he stays and Benítez saying is true, the only wayy James plays some.minutes Will come from having a Whole hospital of injured midfielders and no 1 else to play... I would Say that Gordon Would get picked first than James...

For what I have read James is even willing to take a salary cut so it doesn't seem money is an issue, the issue is probably playing time.

I hope you are right and that even if James is not in his plans that Benitez makes use of him if he is not sold. It seems to me that James so far this season has shown his professionalism, he has been at practice from the very beginning of the season, he has met his obligations and traveled and promoted the Florida Cup. He played the matches and even when he didn't start the first half during the game against Pumas he sat on the bench with a big smile on his face, if doing all this is not meeting his professional obligations then what is it? so it seems to me that James has been trying to disprove Benitez assessment so let's hope Benitez is also willing to give him a chance to prove himself if he can't be sold.
