TBH I think it is very shortsighted of the Club, and Benitez, not to keep James for the remainder of his contract. Specially if the Club's strategy is to continue growing our brand globally and our fan base too. The amount of exposure and commercial revenue that James can generate is tremendous and the club knows it otherwise they would have not make him the main figure and the main advertising face during their recent visit to the US. It is James who brought many supporters to the stadium last month, it was James the one who brought supporters like myself and
@UptheTofees to the Blues and now we have found in Everton a club that we wish to continue following even after our Colombians are not part of the squad, but we would have never become so attached to Everton had it not been because James attracted us to the Club in the very first place. Moreover, James outreach is not just among Colombians and South Americans but he has a great amount of fans in Asia and the US.
Then when it comes to productivity in terms of goals and assist, I don't see anyone that we could sign up for the money we are willing to let him go. I still wonder who does Benitez thinks will help us with such contribution that's not going to cost us big cash. Moreover, posters here complaining that James costs too much for the amount of time he plays should look at around at our neighbors, Liverpool signed Thiago for a higher fee than James and he was injured several times last season and didn't generate the same goal or assist out put as James did but Klopp still values him and considers him to be a big part of his midfield but at Everton James is look down
