Who mentioned staying for life ?
Very rare footballers stay at any clubs beyond 3 yrs.

Just a general comment if you where about to move abroard getting a new dog is hardly on the list of priorities.
We're not James mate. There's a possibility he thinks differently from you and me

For what I have read James is even willing to take a salary cut so it doesn't seem money is an issue, the issue is probably playing time.

I hope you are right and that even if James is not in his plans that Benitez makes use of him if he is not sold. It seems to me that James so far this season has shown his professionalism, he has been at practice from the very beginning of the season, he has met his obligations and travel and promoted the Florida Cup. He played the matches and even when he didn't start the first half during the game against Pumas he sat on the bench with a big smile on his face, if doing all this not meeting his professional obligations then what is it? so it seems to me that James has been trying to disprove Benitez assessment so let's hope Benitez is also willing to give him a chance to prove himself if he can't be sold.
100%

He could sit at home and not bother to train like Kane and await a transfer.

Madness that Benitez apparently seems fit to move him on. We have little enough quality as it is.

What it tells you is Benitez is planning on reverting to type and will be pummelling balls up to DCL to lay it off.

It is madness specially without the footballer that we are not supposed to name
and without Bernard, if not James then who really is going to be the man to provide some creativity and goal scoring chances at Everton, unless we pay a lot which that wouldn't help our budget issues.

I can't wait to see what Benitez has in mind for James for this weekend.I've read that Mendes had asked Everton to play James as much as possible during the preseason so he can have exposure and more easily find him a way out.

If James gets minutes against Utd Sassy, I think he'll be here at least for the start of the season

Sometimes I think so too and according to the reports coming from Spain and Caracol's Colombia (one the main news outlets), Mendes has offered James to seven teams: Milan, Sevilla, Roma, Zenit of Saint Petersburg, Paris Saint Germain, Atletico Madrid and Ajax, None of the clubs have shown enough interest or send an offer, so he may have to stay at least for now. What worries me is having a player with such football skills and big salary sitting on the bench just because Benitez doesn't want to use him.
I'd be equally worried that none of the aforementioned teams didn't want the golden boy

Yet another episode in the "Everton handling things like frigging amateurs again" series.

We have ballsed up having James since day 1 when we allowed that fraud siggurdson to keep the no 10 shirt - mistake 1.

We have completly missed the marketing opportunities with James, and not even got close to the potential we could have got at with him playing for us - mistake 2.

We then appoint probably the only manager in world football who already has form for ragging on James, and seemed to ruin what he had at Madrid - mistake 3.

Now instead of coming out and saying that the new manager doesn't want James and won't play him much, if at all (or James doesn't want to be here, which I don't think is true, from what I have seen), were peddaling this ffp shoeshine and that we have to get shut of the most creative, exciting, only world class footballer in our squad to help balance the books - bloody lunacy.

FFP is a dead duck, it's not worth the paper it's written on and city have saw to that - if we're being frugal, and tightening the belt due to BMD then the club should just say so.

I just hope he's still here, is fit and selected by the FSW for the opener so we can get to see him at Goodison, if only for the one game.

Benitez has so many issues he needs to resolve and hurdles to get over with us as fans - adding binning James to the long list is completely baffling to me.

Why? None of the aforementioned teams seem to need his services like we do. But I guess people keep forgetting about last season’s James goal scoring contributions. In PL matches James scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists. 3rd in the team, no bad for a lad that missed a lot of games. By comparison Thiago, with more minutes had 1 goal and 0 assist. Unless we sign someone with similar goal scoring capabilities then Everton should be the worry one not the aforementioned teams

James Rodríguez broadcasted again on Twitch and answered questions from his fans. The two most commented topics were his future at Everton and the news of Lionel Messi's departure from Barcelona. The Colombian said that at the moment there is nothing defined with his career and that things can change in the next days or weeks.

"With my future I'm waiting to see what happens, football changes a lot every day, I can't assure you anything. It can change a lot in hours (...) On Saturday we're going to play a friendly against Manchester but I don't know, I'm there, there, there, let's see," James said.

Later he added that he is preparing well in England for what is coming, he wants to be well physically to have regularity, either in Everton or at another club. His continuity with the Toffees is not assured even if he has contract for another year.

"I feel well, it's always an illusion to start a new season, the most important thing is to be healthy. If I'm healthy, things are going to go well, to be able to play is what I want and wait for where we're going or if I stay here, I don't know, it's a doubt that I have right now. I can't tell you clearly what I'm going to do. I'm doing what I like best, training for what's coming, regardless of whether it's here or somewhere else, you have to work seriously," explained the player.

More and more gutting each time you read that.

Get the feeling he wants to stay & play but has been told he's not wanted by Everton.

Proper depressing stuff.
