I think that Rafael is possibly the only manager that we could have attracted that has the gravitas to deal with this positively.

He's said all summer that he doesn't know what his future holds. The club have made it abundantly clear that they are open to shifting him and I am sure Mendes has been working all summer on lining a deal up if a club bites. That's what happens in football. But James has been professional as you would expect. But why would you then ostracise him a few days before the season starts?

All the players are interested in themselves.

A difference between the likes of Coleman and James is that James thinks/knows he can do better than Everton whereas Coleman knows this as good as it gets for him. It's easy to show you're all about loyalty and the team when no one better has any interest in signing you.
