It's a fair point, but the thing is our team ISN'T devoid of quality, they are just not drilled.

If as you say they don't put in the required effort the place will be taken by eager youth or further, hungry re-enforcements in Jan.

The effort was lacking last season because it's well known players can take the piss out of Ancelotti on that front.
Disagree, bar about 5 players the rest of that squad is absolute trash.

and as for the 2nd point, it’s been like that for several seasons under several managers, wasn’t just a carlo thing

Did you see Harry Winks against us in the 5-4 cup game? He was by a country mile the worst player on the pitch including our utterly useless CMs. We may as well keep Davies than sign him. For the £20m+ he would likely cost I'd rather we gambled on a player from the continent like Nunes.

1 game mate James was bang average against bottom of the league Sheffield Utd.

Wouldn't pay daft money for him like but £15 million or so I wouldn't be fussed as he's better than what we currently having getting into our midfield when we have an injury.

Can you name me any game from last season were Harry Winks has shown he would be worth us dropping £20m+ on him?

He's a holding midfielder mate he isn't gonna have a highlights reel thats not his job! He's been poor for Spurs for the last 12-18 months which coincided with Poch leaving who he played alright under so I wouldn't judge him solely off last season - he's played 109 times for a good Spurs outfit and 10 caps for England.

I dont want us to sign him but if he came in at £15-20 million its not a disaster if we then offload a Delph/Gomes.

The midfield lacks engines so suddenly having Doucoure + another player who can actually run/tackle makes us much more of a functional unit.

So get rid of one crap crab to be replaced by a younger more expensive crap crab

I got it! Benitez wants to assure us that we are not a "small club". Only big clubs can afford to get rid of James or put him on the bench. I'm sure the crowd is going to love him even more for this amazing decision.
The bad news is that only an... interesting... manager would choose any of our midfielders over James.
On the other hand, I guess midfield line Gomes, Delph, Iwobi and Davis doesn't look bad (in Rafael's head)

A holding midfielder whose weaknesses are tackling and discipline? There are plenty of players out there that we don't need to sign a cast off from an average Spurs team who will probably want 70k+ a week

I dont like him discussing internal affairs on twitch either. It's pretty unprofessional.

I'm just unhappy at why the effort to seemingly want to move him on has not been there for several other players.

Tom Cleverley had 159 first team appearances and 13 caps when he signed for us.

Your argument is invalid.

Winks is an extremely average player. I know you have an agenda to back the manager in all circumstances, but lets try to keep a bit of objectivity.

Did you watch us play spurs in the 5-4 game in February? If you did, you wouldn't be saying these things about Winks.

:hayee::hayee::hayee::hayee::hayee:

For flips sake.

I give up like.

Our most technically gifted player for years, and the lids don't want him at the club because hE DoEsN'T wErK HaRd EnUfF or hE CaN'T RuN MaTe and HiS AtTiTuDE sTiNkS

Such an English 'Do it Easy' attitude, that. We wouldn't know flair if it camped out in the driveway on hunger strike. And don't give me yada yada yada modern game, no passengers, high press and intensity. You get that from a strong spine, not from your playmaker. If we got a couple of midfielders and centre backs who could tackle, hold and distribute the ball under pressure, and told Dom to try and win the ball back instead of jogging around it then Jameth's defections off the ball wouldn't be half as much of an issue as they are in a team that spends most of the 90 in a low block.
Nobody denies he's talented but he can't be a law unto himself irrespective of his undoubted talent, this attitude can't be allowed ''Ancelotti said, per the Liverpool Echo: "James is out because he was a little bit tired''..........looks like he's at it again, ship him out along with Keane and Delph
