I don't get why we're always so coy and secretive when it comes to his injuries. We know he's a crock (great player still), so why try to sugar coat and cover up things? Can't he just say "he's got a [whatever it is] injury, and is expected to miss [estimated number of weeks]".

Because I genuinely do think it's such a tricky injury that they don't know - they have to take it day by day.

It's more a problem than an injury. It's just there. He's never gonna recover from it. So if he aggravates it, it's a case of waiting to see how long it takes to ease off. Could be 6 days, could be 3 weeks.

Its the same recurring problem he's had for years. Not as simple as saying "2 weeks and he'll be good"

He's the single most impactful player in our squad.

When he plays, we're an entirely different prospect to when he doesn't play.

Giving the opposition as little clue as to which version of Everton they are going to play make sense to me.

I would like to think he could make the bench at the weekend. 20 minutes would be ideal build up for 65 minutes against Man City in the cup. He is a difference maker. If he's on the pitch there is always potential for something happening.

It is frustrating though.

Team needs him

Hopefully he gets back and just finishes the season uninterrupted
We do need him. When you think people criticize Bruno Fernandes for not doing enough against big teams. That's kinda the level James should be aiming at. He's managed 13 goal involvements in 21 games, which is certainly a decent return, but he's missed a third of the season, which isn't so good.

Just curious, what is the recurring problem he's got. Is it his knee?

Too unreliable to built a team around
I agree and this isn't a shot at James, He's the best Everton player I've witnessed for us younguns but when you go from playing against Liverpool then missing 4 games or missing most of December it's not ideal is it? I knew we'd be getting a limited amount from him otherwise he'd be at an elite team but it's just not ideal for a team like us.

According to those that have followed him pre Everton, he has had an issue with his calf for ages. It kinda comes and goes.
If that's the case a bit gutted going by what we've seen of him its takes a couple of games to get in his stride then looks the deal but that possibility of a breakdown with calf every so many games just disrupts his form ,bit of a nightmare really

He will never get himself fully fit if he keeps sitting out through niggles, It's s shame we never get a match fit James.
