On signing, Rodriguez said: “I’m a winner… a real winner. I like to win things and I’m convinced we can have a great season,” James told evertontv.

“I know we have a very talented squad, full of top players, and, I think, with the additions we’re making during this transfer window, it’s going to make us even stronger.
“Now it is down to me to perform well, to play well, to bring my A -game to this club and bring that winning mentality, to make sure everyone in the Club believes we can win trophies."

lol

10th, and he bales out before the end of the season.

BS v Reality.
15 goal involvements and some filthy moments of beauty on the pitch.
Glass half full v davek

Below are my thoughts on James’ situation. The GOT women will have to forgive me for the double post.

My feelings is that I would have rather having James on the squad, at least on the bench in case of really needing him. He can be such a magician when on the field and we have some very difficult games ahead of us specially with WC qualifying matches that we are playing next week against Peru and Argentina that we must win. But I also think James fancies himself to be of above everyone else because of his status and it seems he rubbed people the wrong way, not only here at Everton for leaving for Colombia before the season was over but also with the Colombian Football Federation and Rueda because when he arrived in Colombia he took a break to hangout with family instead of joining Rueda and his other teammates that were already training for the upcoming matches. As UptheTofees has already posted. It also seems that Everton medical team contacted Colombia’s coaching staff to let them know that James was not ready to play. That’s when they informed James and the Federation issued the statement. At that point I think James should have understood that a medical decision was taken for his own health benefits and he should have not responded to the news by issuing his statement because now I’m afraid Rueda may not call on him soon again given his prima Donna attitude. I love James, I have followed him for many years and he is a magnificent footballer but I do think fame and money has gotten a bit to his head and he feels he should have preferred status but the reality is that football is a team game and everyone should earn their place. Maybe this experience will make him reconsider his status and humbles him a little bit.

With regards to Everton I think this is great news for the Blues because James will now see in Ancelotti a manager that continues trusting on him, unlike Rueda he would think, and would want to do everything to prove Colombia’s manager made a mistake. Which means he would try to get fully fit this summer since he won’t be playing. The rest will be good for his body and he will be ready to begin the preseason with Everton in much better form that had he played for Colombia. I really don’t think he will be leaving Everton. One thing about James is that he has always met his contract obligations and has never left before the time he signed for. So I do believe he will be here next season and he will be more energetic than ever because he would want a spot in the NT squad for next year’s World Cup qualifiers and more importantly a spot to be part of the World Cup.

So overall while I feel bad for James because I know he has great passion for the NT and would have wished playing the upcoming matches, the conclusion of both Everton and Colombia’s NT is that he is not ready so he needs to heal and get better without any more tantrums or statements. He needs to accept the coach’s decision and work hard so he can comeback and have his best season at Everton and with Colombia.
Sassy and very Classy with that response on the merits and otherwise of James Rodriguez, I hope the final part of your post turns out to be the way James approaches next season with Everton and he comes back determined to have a better season and work his way into the Colombian squad for the next World Cup, if he doesn’t, Sassy, I recommend that you go and see him and give him a stern talking to, or else!!

Good news, this. Colombia have obviously decided that he's not up to it this summer. On the evidence of what we have seen this season, they are absolutely correct. The injury has hobbled a great player. Dare I say it, but Carlo has quietly played a blinder. By allowing the player - who loves playing for his country - the freedom to go to South America and stake his claim even to the detriment of optics as his Everton team-mates played the determining matches of their season without his presence, Carlo has allowed Colombia to be "the bad guys" and tell the hard unvarnished truth. It's Carlo he owes the debt of gratitude to now. He put no public impediment in his way. Come back to the tender, loving, fatherly embrace of Don Carlo, James...

6 goals and 4 assists.

£12M-£20M fee + goodness knows what wages (off the scale no doubt).

Call me fickle, but I doint think we're getting good value...and he'll only give us less time on the pitch, because this was the max he's been prepared to give for years.

Get shut.

It was £20M but £12M up front AFAIK.
LOL

He was free.

"Unfortunately, because James Rodríguez move from Real Madrid on a free transfer to Everton no money is due," the club announced. "We have consulted both clubs involved and the corresponding federations. All of them confirmed to us that the club will not receive money as part of the solidarity mechanism."

All the reports at the timed said £20M.
James Rodriguez’s former club Banfield have claimed the Colombian international’s move from Real Madrid to Everton was a free transfer.

Rodriguez finally completed his switch to the Premier League side earlier this month, with reports on a fee between the Toffees and Real Madrid ranging between €20m and €25m.

However, Argentinian side Banfield have stated they have not received an expected ‘solidarity payment’ as part of the deal, indicating the transfer did not contain a fee.

“After hearing of James Rodriguez’s transfer from Real Madrid to Everton, Club Atletico Banfield enquired if it was their responsibility to collect a solidarity payment,” an official club statement read.

“Despite media reports indicating a high transfer fee being involved, which Banfield benefit from, via a percentage payment having trained the player earlier in his career.

“However this was not the case, as due to the nature of the deal no money was due.

“The transfer was made with no money, as if he was a free agent.”
