Sassy and very Classy with that response on the merits and otherwise of James Rodriguez, I hope the final part of your post turns out to be the way James approaches next season with Everton and he comes back determined to have a better season and work his way into the Colombian squad for the next World Cup, if he doesn’t, Sassy, I recommend that you go and see him and give him a stern talking to, or else!!
Thanks, Cameron. It was my honest outlook not trying to be judgmental. Nor do want I want to put James down and claim, like some here, that he is not a worth keeping because he is. I also don’t think he has been faking his injuries because he wasn’t but like @Ryu79 mentioned in a previous post, James needs better guidance with his media/communication that’s exactly where he is failing. I also think Rueda’s decision not to include him in Colombia’s squad is a reality check for him, now he is aware that he doesn’t have a guaranteed spot with the NT and like everyone else he would have to be fully fit to earn his spot. I really do think this going to be a great motivation for him to get healthier and he will comeback more committed than ever because he is getting closer to retirement and these last few years of football at the club and NT team level will finish cementing his legacy as football player and I have no doubt he wants to end his career on a high note.

I hope you are correct, I am not one of James’s biggest fans, think he could have done more to help Everton and himself, but you have convinced me to see how he responds to the rejection, for now, by Colombia and hope he reacts and finishes his career on a high, and I never argue with a lady, especially one who knows her football!!

I think we can state that JR is a very good football player when he is in the mood and in shape. Then it's fun to watch him play football.

But I think we can also state that JR is a player who may not have the best professional attitudes (which explains frequent injuries, etc.), and does not have the mentality of the real world-class players.

If JR, after this situation, wants to disprove the skeptics, then it is a win-win for Everton. That is, he puts in the effort needed, and does all the boring injury prevention exercises + a little more.

But if he comes back even more demotivated, and wants to escape all the discomfort that professional football brings, then we should seriously consider whether this is a player who can take Everton to the next level.

The team must always be the first priority over individual players.

Below are my thoughts on James’ situation. The GOT women will have to forgive me for the double post.

My feelings is that I would have rather having James on the squad, at least on the bench in case of really needing him. He can be such a magician when on the field and we have some very difficult games ahead of us specially with WC qualifying matches that we are playing next week against Peru and Argentina that we must win. But I also think James fancies himself to be of above everyone else because of his status and it seems he rubbed people the wrong way, not only here at Everton for leaving for Colombia before the season was over but also with the Colombian Football Federation and Rueda because when he arrived in Colombia he took a break to hangout with family instead of joining Rueda and his other teammates that were already training for the upcoming matches. As UptheTofees has already posted. It also seems that Everton medical team contacted Colombia’s coaching staff to let them know that James was not ready to play. That’s when they informed James and the Federation issued the statement. At that point I think James should have understood that a medical decision was taken for his own health benefits and he should have not responded to the news by issuing his statement because now I’m afraid Rueda may not call on him soon again given his prima Donna attitude. I love James, I have followed him for many years and he is a magnificent footballer but I do think fame and money has gotten a bit to his head and he feels he should have preferred status but the reality is that football is a team game and everyone should earn their place. Maybe this experience will make him reconsider his status and humbles him a little bit.

With regards to Everton I think this is great news for the Blues because James will now see in Ancelotti a manager that continues trusting on him, unlike Rueda he would think, and would want to do everything to prove Colombia’s manager made a mistake. Which means he would try to get fully fit this summer since he won’t be playing. The rest will be good for his body and he will be ready to begin the preseason with Everton in much better form that had he played for Colombia. I really don’t think he will be leaving Everton. One thing about James is that he has always met his contract obligations and has never left before the time he signed for. So I do believe he will be here next season and he will be more energetic than ever because he would want a spot in the NT squad for next year’s World Cup qualifiers and more importantly a spot to be part of the World Cup.

So overall while I feel bad for James because I know he has great passion for the NT and would have wished playing the upcoming matches, the conclusion of both Everton and Colombia’s NT is that he is not ready so he needs to heal and get better without any more tantrums or statements. He needs to accept the coach’s decision and work hard so he can comeback and have his best season at Everton and with Colombia.

Brilliant response from the Colombian FA there. Standing firm when so many other associations or management teams would bend the knee to player power, and short-termism.

I get the impression this will be the rocket that spurs him on to a better level in the coming year or two.

I get the same impression. I really think the response by Rueda and Colombia FA will be the impetus for him to get fitter and give the best of himself next season.

James Rodriguez’s former club Banfield have claimed the Colombian international’s move from Real Madrid to Everton was a free transfer.

Rodriguez finally completed his switch to the Premier League side earlier this month, with reports on a fee between the Toffees and Real Madrid ranging between €20m and €25m.

However, Argentinian side Banfield have stated they have not received an expected ‘solidarity payment’ as part of the deal, indicating the transfer did not contain a fee.

“After hearing of James Rodriguez’s transfer from Real Madrid to Everton, Club Atletico Banfield enquired if it was their responsibility to collect a solidarity payment,” an official club statement read.

“Despite media reports indicating a high transfer fee being involved, which Banfield benefit from, via a percentage payment having trained the player earlier in his career.

“However this was not the case, as due to the nature of the deal no money was due.

“The transfer was made with no money, as if he was a free agent.”
It's there in the sub-text: a BS story to stop Madrid having to hand cash over to a South American outfit.
