2021/22 James Rodriguez

I think he'll be sidelined and we'll explore again in January how and who to get him out the club.
I think that would be a big mistake. If Benitez is going to sideline him then it will be even harder getting rid off him in January and who is going to help the team with the goal contributions that he helped us with last year? It is not like we have signed someone that to help us with those, specially since we have lost the contributions from the footballer that's suspended and we are not to name here.

It's not cutting off your nose to spite your face to leave out a disruptive player who can by his presence undermine team effort and ethos.

We need to leave this to Benitez. If James isn't involved its for a very good reason. Benitez doesn;t care about anything other than getting a result. If he thoiught that meant including James he would have by now.

The group outranks the indiuvidual. Football is a team game. I couldn't give a monkeys whether on the odd occassion this feller can make a an asist if overal we lose discipline and shape. The system has to prevail. That's what will get us to safety and then a top half finish, not James's 20 appearances and 6 goals.
Disruptive? I have only see him smiling when training and interacting with his teammates. Unlike Richarlison he has never even gotten into an argument with a teammate about taking a shot at goal, even when there were times last year that he should have taken the shot over the number 10.

Oh come on, Dave. James knows it is a team game and he is actually not a selfish player at all when on the field, he actually could take many shots himself instead of passing them but instead he feeds his play mates with nice passes, if they can't make them then that's on them.

…he shouldn’t be sidelined because he’s a top quality footballer with plenty to offer if used wisely (central midfield in attacking 3rd).

My slight concern is Benitez‘s ego & whether he has an agenda against Rodriguez.

Although he might not fit the stereotype Benitez player, Rodriguez isn’t lazy & his attitude to playing is fine. I’m not saying he needs to start most games, but Benitez would be daft not exploiting his ability & the club would be daft not exploiting his global profile.

He's done here as far as im concerned. His behaviour has been nothing short of a disgrace.

Hes openly admitted he doesnt care for the club. It angers me that we still have to pay him.

He should be lucky to get reserve team football until January. Imagine how Kendall would have dealt with him!
He’d have taken him out for a curry, a few pints of Cobra, then sat him down to watch Kevin Sheedy videos and said “he wasn’t quick either, but watch and learn”!

He has performed, when he's been fit.

I include myself in this but football fans are without doubt the most fickle breed on this planet.
On his day he is a world-class player, no doubts, but he started off very well VVD booted him in the nuts early on in the Derby game at home - hes been holding his plums ever since ....
Thank goodness Jordan Pickford got revenge :D

Eggs, that's exactly my concern too.

The narrative that James is lazy or have a bad attitude is just a myth. He is just a bit arrogant at times and talks more in social media than he should but if given the opportunity he will work hard for the teams he plays for. I'm also in agreement that he shouldn't start every game as he is prone to injury and it would be good to manage him better than Ancelotti did last year and use him against those team that he will be the most effective when we really need his creativity to unlock some defenses.

He'll cause friction 100%

If he isn't playing a section of fans will be on the managers back without knowing the full details.

I cant fathom how after watching our last 3 league games why fans want a slow, undisciplined, defensively weak player starting games.

Brands has left us with a ticking time bomb
100% like paying you debts? :p

Show me proof that he has caused such friction in any of the teams he played for. If anything James has always gotten along with all his teammates and coaches, except for one and that's Benitez.
