I mean, James came on pre season, has been training with the squad and only hasn't played because the manager made a decision before any game was played that he wouldn't pick him in the squad because of a grudge he has from 6 years ago. (Funnily enough, holding a grudge is the one stick you keep trying to beat fans with around the manager appointment but it's acceptable for the manager to do).

James was willing to leave, but has never said he isn't committed to playing, but the manager needs to swallow his own pride and be willing to select him.

Rafael has already said that he won't keep him out of the squad.

You would have to be an absolute loon to do that.

My only issue is that we've started well, what if we start James ahead of Iwobi for example who has been very good and it changes the team dynamic.

Do you shoehorn him in to a balances squad or do you leave him on the bench.

Anyone backing James over the clubs manager is a fool especially when he'll be on the first flight out of here either 1st January or 1st July.
Nobody is "backing James over the Club's manager".
I'm saying the Club's manager is wrong, and is a pig-headed fool for backing himself into a stupid position like this where he has to back down and give our best player some game time in the next few months, before he tries to eject him from the club again simply because he doesn't like him.

He needs to actually be selected for the bench to leave him there though. He has been training with the squad the last 2 weeks yet last game, we didn't even name a full bench.

I get you love benitez and know his whole life story, but managers lie, repeatedly, it's his actions of actually bringing him back in that are telling. And if he is as good as you make out, then he will be able to bring James back in no problem.

I would hazard a guess that Benitez will do more for the club than James Rodriguez will.

One will still be around when we move into BMD for one, the other will be playing COD in the MLS come next season.

I see your guesses are just as dreadful as your opinions. Will the fat toad slot a 25 yarder into the bottom corner or supply an a pass from the gods in a Derby?
As for being in charge at BMD, why would you want to soil our new stadium having him in charge

Stopped reading at best player.

7 points out of a possible 9 playing better football without him and a better win ratio last season without said best player.

He's a status fossil for the arl da's to reminisce about the days of the 80's great sides.

Anyone living in the now and present EFC see's him for what he is - an injury prone luxury player on the wrong side of 30.

9 points out of a possible 9 with him at the start of last season. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

All that talks of is branding and projection of the club; there's nothing there about capitalising on that financially.

I'd like to know how a season of James has translated into cold hard cash. How many shirts did we sell of James? Just a simple and obvious one but that would be more telling than some corporate gobbledygook.
I’m 61 years of age
Been supporting Everton since I was 7
The first ever Everton shirt with a name on it that I bought was
James 19
I’m sure I’m not alone

Then hand me the figures of worldwide sales and how the club benefit from the association.

Give it a few weeks and we lose a few games or players through injury and James will be rolled out. Couldn't care less about your morals or whether you don't like him. All I care about is 3 points and getting to see good players live at goodison.

If you think this start will last you need to give your head a wobble. All hands on deck and if that includes James putting on a show like he did at Anfield & OT last year so be it.
