2021/22 James Rodriguez

Show me when he has ever downed tools or been a divisive personality at any of his previous clubs. He hasn't.

You are just making things up to fit your narrative.
Stupid players "down tools". ...... We don't sign stupid players, we sign clever ones like Delph, Schneiderlein, Gylfi, James, etc etc who know how to play the system.

Club has been taken for a ride for too long. James is a poster boy - he's not gonna rock the boat, he has people to do that for him.

I think you're forgetting the one major point here: James doesn't want to be at Everton. He really doesn't. That's why he's using social media to get attention. His link with Everton left to go to Madrid. He isn't interested in this club.

I find it hard to take that people on this forum - fellow Evertonians - are embarrassing themselves by going to bat for this utter waster.

He'll be gone form Everton in a matter oif a fortnight. Good riddance. Then hopefully many of you will come to your senses and crack on. He's not worth a second thought IMO.

tbf only about 3 of the players he listed do too.

I loved the fact that we signed Rodriguez and he was literally the most talented passer of a football with extraordinary vision that I've seen in a blue shirt.

The reality is that he was on a private jet on his way to Colombia as his Italian cheese munching mentor just wasn't arsed anymore as we prepared for a potential Europe deciding game. Loads of fans sticking up for him .... Forgetting the rage they felt when iwobi was pictured getting on a private jet "at the end of the season".

The club needs a reset, Rodriguez is akin to mirallas, Schneiderlein, Gylfi, Gomes, Iwobi, Bernard, in the "I love money but I'm not really bothered if I lose or don't play" stakes.

Let Rafael continue to be the panto villain for some ..... He's gonna get our club professional again.

He was injured. He couldn't have gone to the game v City anyway due to covid restrictions. He wouldn't have played.

Missing the Wolves game was crap because in that case he could have been on the bench/in the stands to do the lap of appreciation at least.

But he was given the early departure to go and see his daughter who he hadn't seen in a year before in theory he joined up with the Colombia squad - but they deemed him unfit too, as he was injured.

Yeah yeah yeah the loving father nonsense.
I seen that one peddled in twitter, I see more of him on social media than a blue shirt. He's played in Europe since the girl was born so I'm not sure separation anxiety is that strong there.

Did he have to advertise that he was on a private jet whilst his teammates were preparing for a critical game? No. Could he have supported his teammates? Yes. I used to work with someone who "had to go home" when work got tough, not sure they sent WhatsApp pics of them having a beer whilst we were still in the office though

Human nature suggests people of more ability/kudos get given more leniency. That's why his manager got away with so much nonsense.

as a club we need to get less tolerant of people who think they can have certain allowances because of who they are.

Roy Keane seen this type of stuff creeping in at Man United and he was spot on about it. To this day he's intolerant of it. Makes refreshing TV

How would we know ? How do we actually know anything except for James saying he wants to play where he's wanted. That can be taken a few ways. Either Benitez has said 'I don't want ya' or James has been told he has to work hard, stay off the social media and he has chosen to split. No one actually knows anything. I'm certainly not going to blame a manager who has been here 5 mins with the only info coming out is from the very media James has peddled.
As I have said before, Club comes first. He won't be here in a few weeks and we all still will be. Better to back the FSW than a fella who has shown nothing in regards to wanting to play here still.
Only an opinion like.
FSW is not the Club. He might be off sooner than James.

I'm refering to using the cash saved on James to fund a RB, not a like for like player.

This will happen, so it's pointless asking me to justify it when the decsion will be made by those in charge of team affairs anyway.
It's like a jigsaw Dave. We have 2 pieces missing at the moment. Remove an existing piece and swap it for one of the missing pieces, still leaves us 2 pieces short. And in my view the piece we're discarding is the more important piece and the harder to replace.

You may well be correct in saying that this is what those in charge will do. That doesn't mean that we have to agree with it.

Well I was being facetious but it's not like we're a club who 'demands success'

We do the opposite, and when good things come, we get rid of them

I don't mind Benitez. But it's just a very meh appointment which to me shows more ambition to just solidify ourselves safely in mid-table than anything else. Maybe that's what we need.

I just hate the way the club is run. Giving £200k (supposedly) a week to James Rodriguez isn't the issue. It's become an issue because we've hired a manager who doesn't think he's worth it, but also because we've got Gomes, Delph etc on massive wages, and had other players on massive wages that our DoF has failed to get rid of.

Nice reply Mate.

Cannot agree on your view of Benitez, I do not think he will satisfied with mid table, think he is all out to lift our club also because he wants to succes to prove to himself and others he is not finished.

Believe me I wish Benitez would give James a go, put the past behind them and get shut of those you mention and add flipping Siggy to that, now there is a waste of space.

I was responding to a post that said he has downed tools. He also said he is divisive. Neither is true.

Unlike Delph, Gylfi and Schneiderlin, James has proved in the past that he is prepared to move to get game time. He did it when he went to Bayern on loan and he did it when he came here on half his salary.

People like you are making stuff up about him to suit your narrative or justify the way the club is treating him, and trying to pass it off as fact. The truth is, the only thing you can throw at him is that he is injury prone. I have no problem with anyone claiming the latter, it's a valid opinion.

Bloody hell

Has there been a global pandemic for the last 10 years?

It's a very valid opinion that is of course back up by evidence. It's also what the club knew when they signed him.

We got 26 games out of James last season and he was pretty much our creative fulcrum in each one. That's on CA for deciding that was the route to go down and also Brands leaving us short up top.

We need reliable players. Players who can give us a season's worth of football.

Benitez might think the way forward is not to overcomplicate it for the time being: just get another centre midfielder in and go with the wingers to carry the attack; or he could go for Longstaff who can play a holding role and also slot in to a position higher up the pitch.

We all saw the quality he brought to our game Toff. And let's be honest, if he was able to do that throughout a season he wouldn't have come to Everton.

Now the question is, is the salary we pay him justified given that we'll likely only get half a season out of him. That's a matter of opinion and mine is yes he is and I believe that is backed up by the impact he had on the games he played in. But I'd also have him in the team because I love to see us play good football, and he is undoubtedly a beautiful footballer.

Dave we do not know even what is on his radar but I do think any options Brands may have would have to meet with RB's approval.

I agree, and I think for the year he's here it's worth it.

But if we do get an offer and we can use that to get good replacements in then fine, it is what it is.

People turning on him, or insisting he's an issue, or 'not that good anyway' etc, are just doing the classic flip-flop that footy fans do. Just like the mad suggestion that we should loan him out on half his wages. If we pay James Rodriguez to play for another club, then we deserve to go bust.

We need a balance of players that can do different things. He can do extraordinary things that few can match. I'm prepared to put up with the downside to have that brilliance in our armoury, even if we're not able to call on it 24/7.

Plus I don't want to see us play boring one dimensional football. There was a time I thought you were the same.
