Were our centre backs really as bad as they were made out to be? or are they becoming scapegoats and now possibly cost us a lot of money to replace them with like for like? A la panicky Everton style.

Being a devils advocate for a second I think even Jags and Watson may have struggled with the lack of quality in front of them and may have became fragile as the ball kept coming back to them every time. And as for the games we sat deep, jeez that was throwing them to the lions.

Just a thought lads and not a fact.

No, not that bad, just riddled with mistakes, at times they have all played really well, at others, quite horrific, I like Keggers, but he had a period last season when it looked like he forgot how to play football. He recovered, but like every player in the squad, if we can improve, we should.

But I dont think they as bad as most think.

Has it all gone quiet on Tarkowski now?
It never got loud, most of the links are just paper fillers at the moment.
Tarkowski would be mad to sign for anyone straight away, wait a few weeks and see who else moves on and better offers may happen.

I think Lampard will wait before committing to a CH as we have quite a few already, and he will need one to go before getting another.

Internationals are being played and most players are on holidays.

Of course players can and are still signing, but it will be a fairly quiet few weeks IMO.

Things will pick up once teams are due to return for pre-season, which will probably be near the end of the month? I dunno, probably earlier.

They're not great. I kept hearing last season about brendan rodgers and leicester conceding from set pieces. They were actualy 2nd worst in the league behind..yep. Everton. Now ive mentioned this before. I dont think pickford helps in that glued to his line. But to many Everton defenders switch off. Godfrey cant even head the ball.
To many individual mistakes for me aswell. The 2nd goal v palace would make it onto any xmas football goofs dvd. Its a valid point about the midfield. But for the lack of guile and possession they dont muster they do also dig in for the defence. I dont think ancelotti trusted either. He had them sitting in front of them many times.
Not for me. But i dont think we'll be able to change much. Midfield is even more a priority.

I would put it this way: we have a squad of #2s and Mina. This would be fine if Mina was ever healthy, but he's not.

We need someone besides Pickford back there organizing the defense, settling people down and dealing with breakaways.

They were left horribly exposed at times and often had to defend for such long spells that the likelihood of errors increased.

However, they were also individually very poor with several mistakes leading to conceding that had nothing to do with those in front of them. They also cannot defend set pieces without Mina playing.

Agreed.

The CB position will need looking at, but will require a sale.

CM is urgent right now as we don’t have enough players there now.

Also, quite a few on holiday now which causes delays.

I think we had a big problem when Mina was unavailable.
