Premiership players are not picked up off the side of the road. The very best make it to the academy level and a small fraction of those make a decent living as a professional footballer.
We all want to see academy players make it into the first team but only when they are good enough to contribute to a winning team.
Some players break through as youngsters, others take longer, it even depends on the position of a player.
Our record of bringing players through is better than most. The number of players that leave us and go onto having a glittering career are very very few.

We can see the manager is slowly introducing players like Garbutt and Browning whereas Ledson at 17 is already pushing himself forward.We need to trust the management team , they work with them every day and know what each is capable of.

They tried to sign him in the summer, he categorically said they were not a big enough club or so the papers say (Don't normally listen to their jarg, but like to believe this one is true )

Problem is that the so called big sides are looking at buying players like these if they can get them, we look at players around 3-4m. should we save all our money each year and buy 1 class player (28m for lukaku) or get squad players in ?

barkley dosent countil as he is one of England's top young talents and pretty much all managers would of been playing him at that stage of his career.

lukaku forced his way into the squad by playing well as a sub, kone being injured and jelavic being gash, so martinez was pretty much forced to play him.

Stones only got his run of games by jags and alcaraz getting injured. In fact he preferred alcaraz over stones in many matches when jags or distan couldn't play(when alcaraz was available).

To be honest, we should be able to do both. Sign class for big money and fill out the squad with Bosmans.

I'd go with that. Quality buy's and good bosman's or loans to pad out the squad

I Just want to take a moment to wonder why people on this fourm can be so sure of them self's but yet have no way of defending there opinion in a actual discussion. instead just come out with the same boring statement masked behind a failed sense of humor and wounder how they can be this funny and not be on 8 out of 10 cats yet.

....probably keeps the fans happy that they are linked with him but I really can't see BR being trusted with big money this January (given his track record)
