Have to disagree Eggs....all it says is that Donachie wanted to leave. The current problem at Evertion is simply that we've lost four on the run, when we least expected to. All it tells us is that we have to try harder as a group. The way to get back in to good form is to fight to get it back.

....you're probably right Steve. I should've asked why he asked to leave, didn't think to do that. My assumption is that he has been challenged about our injury record and threw his dummy out of the pram, but this might be far from the truth.

I didn't intend to scaremonger but he has apparently resigned twice.

I remember Osman 'not working' as a cm in Moyes' last season which included some great football with Osman and Gibson playing centre mid.

Something like 18 months ago, at least. Osman's never been a strong tackler and in our current system our CMs need to be strong tacklers. I personally think Osman still has a role to play, but it's as the 10 rather than shielding the back four and dropping into RB when Coleman moves upfield.

Most of the games Osman has played in this season we haven't lost.

Whilst not untrue, it's a fairly simplistic statement which ignores several other factors all contributing to the results of those games.

He would be a better option than any of the clowns we currently have playing centre mid. Least he can keep possession, pick a pass and get into goal scoring positions, traits currently beyond most of Martinez's favourites.

Isn't that what we need in our 10, rather than our CM? Yes Osman can do all those things, but I worry that the defensive side of the CM's job is something that doesn't fit well with Osman's strengths and weaknesses.

If they were fit I'd have Osman Gibson and Pienaar (those players everupne keeps blaming gor our slump despite playing no part in it) straight back into the team. They proved season after season that they were top 8 players. Not bottom 3 like some of the current first team.

I haven't seen anybody blaming Pienaar, Osman or Gibson for Alcaraz and Barry being awful. The slump is not due to the performances of the three players you named (although their injuries have come at an awful time - hardly their faults). The problem is that Pienaar and Osman are in the twilight of their careers - you simply can't put them on the field for ninety minutes, twice a week, and expect them to perform exactly as they did three years ago. Gibson is slightly different in that you can't put him on the field for ninety minutes twice a year.

I too would love to see Osman and Pienaar available for selection... but I would put them in their best positions (10 and LW, respectively) rather than expect them to take the two CM spots. Besic and McCarthy go there, IMHO.
