shelvey can be cracking on his day. he's not a crap player, just inconsistent - had a terrible season so far though. anyway, highly doubt we're interested, we do need to assess DM in the summer, he's not that type of player. we have mccarthy, barkley and besic to an extent to offer what he does. suppose turn mccarthy and besic into the barry and gibson replacements and we need a rotational option for barkley.
i really like shelvey though, we need a bit of snap in our team, but not really what he does, he goes a bit over the top in that regards, not as bad as his younger years it must be said. he is the kind of player who could turn out to be an amazing bargain at £5m with the right manager - but why would we do that?

Haven't the papers always sold Everton players each window? Will take a lot to change that.

The only way that can be 'challenged' is if it compares very badly with statistics for other clubs, when the luck element is taken out of the mix. There are many factors to consider, for example Kevin Mirallas plays for Everton because his injury record(even before he signed) means that a top, very top, European club won't sign him. A lot of the players you list are older players who are more prone to injury. Long term Martinez plan will be to reduce the age of the squad, but there will always be a certain amount of 'old head experience' available to him.Everton have one of the best medical facilities available in the Prem. Try comparing, over a couple of years, our injury record with others and it may well be similar.

The 'snap', sooner rather than later, will be Besic. He needs to add a few goals to his game but he is certainly/probably the future.
