Rubbish.

Spurs' revenue was 140m ours was 120m and Liverpool isn't London which means the costs of running Everton should be lower. They might be making a bit more but hardly on a different level.
Look at the previous incomings at both clubs. It's not comparable. They struck lucky with Bale going for a kings ransom, but they've bought more expensive players than us for quite a long time.

I keep peeking in here to see if we have signed anyone but no not yet!

My fear is RM maybe looking for a GK, now although we would like a top class or shall we say decent keeper, this will not happen. RM will keeping on using Robles and find some cheap hack to sit on the bench just in case.

Why would you even go as far to assume this? Strange mentality you've got if you're going to believe every rumour is true.

I don't assume it's true but if we sign this guy then McCarthy is gone. We're not going to have Gibson, Barry, Besic, McCarthy and Kavlak all in the same team so one of them is going. The only one likely would be McCarthy given the rumours.

I'm going by what we've spent previously. By using my brain. We operated in fine margins, hardly a secret, up until this year.
So you don't. The fact is that we didn't actually overspend this year.

When we bought Yakubu he was about 20% of our revenue, Lukaku was about the same. We then went on to buy Fellaini who was even more expensive.

There's more money in English football than in previous years so our transfer budget will go up appropriately.

Laughable really. We never seem to aim for players at clubs that are on our level, bar Lukaku as an exception.

mainly because players don't make sideways steps in their career, unless they are at that bottom of the premier league standard. we aim lower because there are better bargains, something we need to do with our finances.

for example, you look at someone like dembele and you think he's a great player, would work nicely here, but if he's not getting in a spurs team which is no better than ours (i'm discounting this league season so far as i have no idea what we're doing), then how will he actually improve us. when selling to a league rival you're not going to want to strengthen them, but it will take a silly offer to make you listen. whereas a lower offer from a team you don't consider a rival, will be more appealing.

look at mata to united for example, great player, but not worth £40m, only that silly amount of offer that made chelsea want to sell and if united were up there with them they would have probably turned that down.

I didn't say we did overspend but you are advocating for a 50m quid window in the summer just gone plus wages which is bloody ridiculous. That's disproportionate to the increase in revenue.

You can't just go by incomings anyway. If you sell a player for 100m and buy one for a 100m you have incomings of 100m but no net profit.

Anyway I'm not going to debate football finances as no one knows unless you work at the club what we have or don't have. The point I made was simply they aren't leagues apart, neither have our finishing positions, neither is our stadium. There's a lot of crap in the media that wants to paint Spurs as bigger than us but the reality is that right now we're about the same although if they get a new stadium built before us that could quickly change.

I didn't say we should buy De Bruyne this window but he's the type of player we should aim to attract each or every other window.

Shaqiri would be a good loan this window as I don't think Bayern want to sell him however if we could get him then the money should be available given the profit (money we actually should have) from last year and then not buy anyone next window.

It doesn't mean that McCarthy is the 1 to go tho does it

I don't think we're ever likely to have Gibson in any team for 2 consecutive halves of any match or successive matches for that matter!

Neither do I but he adds to the wage bill and even without Gibson it's hardly like we need the cover especially since Baines, Barkley and Osman can also drop back there and quite frankly I think Barkley should play there permanently.

Oh and don't forget Ledson who will need to start getting minutes.

We could afford to loose McCarthy without replacing him. I just don't understand this transfer.

Furthermore Barry and Gibson are therefore not up to scratch in any way this season.
Leaves us pretty light before Hames manoeuvres this speculated move to Spurs or whoever meets his own self value
