Lescott, Baines, Arteta, Jagielka, Coleman, Mirallas, Pienaar have all been good enough to play at top four level after being bought by Moyes. All were bought for less than 7 million as well, you will have to show me where Kev's 8 million transfer fee has been confirmed.

McCarthy was a good buy and he is top four quality. Lukaku looks like he has the potential to get to top 4 standard, and we have paid the price for his potential. But his other signings have been of lower mid table standard, and I don't think he is going to be anywhere near as good as Moyes in getting top four quality players at value prices.

Instead, I think he has a propensity to get a hard on over players that are average at best, and then tell us all that they are phenomenal. I bet you we ignore the likes of Delph and sign the likes of Cleverly.

Moyes had around 22 transfer windows to bring in players, So yes he did get in some bargains, But you would expect that given the amout of players he brought in over an 11 year period

Martinez has had 2 windows and little over 12 months, Let's see how he does over the next few seasons before judging his transfer record

Transfer price increase more over past 10 year. So we can not compare transfer record between 2 managers
can u image highest transfer price reach over 70M in 10 year ago

Kev cost 8m not under 6

Who are the selection of players good enough to play for a top 4 club? Lescott/Baines/Arteta? Who else?

Martinez replaced Vic and Jelavic with Rom and Lukaku, He replaced Fellaini with McCarthy, Not doing that badly is he

sorry mate but he had a 6mil buyout clause.

Villa have paid United to have him on loan for the entire season, but we will sign him for free next summer. I'm just getting worried about us signing all these lower mid table players, they're just nowhere near good enough for a side who supposedly want to break into the top four.

only a half season loan. unless they increased it like.

As we seem to have become a bit one dimensional going forwards,Id like to see a forward who can dominate in the air.Lukaku is improving in that department, but doubt he'll ever be that type of player.

what's everyone's obsession with labelling half our squad not good enough because they
Howard
Robles
Distin
Hibbert
Alcaraz
Osman
Gibson
Pienaar
Mcgeady
Kone

None of them are up to 4th place level. Besic though needs a season.

what's everyone's obsession with labelling half our squad not good enough because they're not top 4 standard? we can't have a squad of 25 players who are all CL standard.

even man city and their bottomless pit don't have that. it's a squad game at the end of the day, we couldn't ship out all those players at once. we wouldn't get good fees for any of them and our squad would be so tiny. we also need a bit of experience hanging around in the dressing room. players like osman are okay to play a handful of games, they'll be 3rd choice for their position etc. and do a job if ever called upon.

with regards to cleverley, if we got him, he clearly wouldn't be a starter (well i bloody hope not) i.e. can't see him being that. he'd be a backup at best. we're not going to have a squad where all our backups are going to be the same quality as the starting player.

just for the record, i wouldn't go near cleverley though.

Need to raid the loan market and get some bodies into the squad, obviously they would have to add some quality aswell.

Atsu has probably been the biggest disappointment of the season for me, waste of a loan and probably would of been better going for his team mate Salah.

Hopefully the stories are true about Atsu going back and Salah coming in but I can't see it.
