Badly need a left back, winger who can beat someone, a central mid who can actually pass a ball forwards, a striker who can score and control a ball, and a centre back who isn't 70 and who doesn't have the turning circle of a aircraft carrier.

Then again we've had since summer and apparently think you can't start negotiating till January window opens and then only allowed one negotiation at a time, so not a prayer we get more than a couple of those in, which should be enough to see the back of elstone, blue bill and Walsh. But it won't...
Phew some wish list there, be interesting to come back on the 1st February and compare.

"There's a huge amount of data that's already gathered and collected in all areas of players' availability - what he is, what he does, what type of player is he? Then, of course, is he available, what price is he available for, what length of contract does he want, does he want to come? That process is already in place. And that process with Steve, who is the Director of Football, is then communicated with the owners and will be very clear and precise. A decision will be made and when that decision is made we will move on with it one way or the other. It's very simple." Asked if he would have the final say on transfers, Allardyce added: "The final decision becomes a collective issue - of can we tick all the boxes? And are we all agreed that we will try and go down this route or down this line?" Allardyce was asked if it was his responsibility to identify areas of the team that needed strengthening and Walsh's to come up with a list of possible targets. "I think the answer to that is probably 'yes'," he said.

And yet seemingly here we are, with a wad of relevent information, messing about again. We should have known who we wanted in and had as much as possible in place for Jan 1st. It's a WC year too so quality should be easier to bring in.

Add in btw, next summer's window is not only gonna be messed up as it always is by the world cup, but is also closing on august the 8th - that creates a whopping 23 days between the world cup final and transfer window shutting to do business. Optimistic given our record?

That's the thing though mate, it's not even my wish list, but rather a list of major areas which limits what we can do and impairs other players games.

Left back - we simply don't have fit for purpose anymore, meaning we are massively imbalanced towards the right and need to use the left sided wide player to provide constant defensive cover.

Winger - we have 2 natural ones in the squad, one is coming back from a busted knee, the other has zero end product and is clearly regressing. Neither have any creativity or vision.

Central mid - lots of players but all of s certain type, not one with the ability to control the pace of a game who can actually pass a ball well.

Centre back - our entire play style is dictated by the lack of pace and inability to defend in space of the centre backs meaning we play 25y deeper. All badly susceptible to bring spun easily as well.

Striker - no explanation needed there. But we have one with decent hold up play but who can't score, and one who can score but makes lukakus control look like a peak pirlo.

What what did Sinclair do mate? I missed that.

Racially abused a copper who had arrested him for drink-driving mate.

This is the best bit:

Nick Freeman, representing Sinclair, said the catalyst for his behaviour that night was being subjected to racism in front of his family while out having a meal hours earlier. Freeman said a woman had approached Sinclair, patted him on the head and called him a “little chocolate man”.

Can't see us having much of a budget mate. Not sure what our net spend was in the summer but I reckon we were expecting decent fees in for Barkley, Funes Mori and McCarthy, none of which materialised due to injury. Also sales of Niasse, Mirallas and Lennon all fell through too. Probably just short of £100m there.

For various reasons I can't see us offloading many players in January either. Maybe a few loans but that won't bring much cash in. So we're already top heavy size wise before bringing anybody else in.

I'm of the opinion that the season is pretty much a dead rubber now. I'd be content to try and bring in a couple of loans, a striker and left sided defender. There'll be a lot of players about looking for game time with it being a world cup year, so hopefully we can capitalise in that. Then go again in the summer, hopefully with a new management team (inc DOF).
