How we haven't even had a strong link with a new left back is worrying?! There are many out there who are good enough who should be able to slot straight in.

Sandro is obviously a good player, scored goals in la liga last year. Think the premier league is just a bit much for him. Then our other striker....Niasse, one of the most frustrating players to watch. Movement is poor, lives offside and just doesn't look technically able to play.

We need to sell one striker and bring another in.

still scored more goals than sandro and calver-lewin combined with limited minutes on the pitch!

Baines is the best left back we've ever had. Ever

The only one you could make an argument for to compare would be Ray Wilson, and my arl fella loved Ray Wilson - even he says that whilst it's difficult to compare across eras, Baines is the better player, albeit in a less successful era

..I respect your Dad, but I have to disagree. Much as I love Baines, he’s not in the same bracket as Wilson. Let’s not forget, Wilson was recognised as the best LB in world football in the mid60s ahead of Karl Schnellinger. I always say Wilson is one of only 3 world class players i’ve seen playing for Everton. Baines is a little maestro of a footballer, Wilson was something else.

Pat Van den Hauwe shouldn’t be omitted from the discussion but we do digress on this transfer thread.

See? Subjective.

I'd cry. Meanwhile the Everton dream goes back to square one

Credit to the little lad for trying to hold up what's left!

This has kept me entertained over the last few pages :)

He's only been at Milan for about 2 weeks

Since they went for the koeman approach in the summer.

40m euro's ... as if weve got that just to spunk on an absolute nobody

:hayee:

:hayee::hayee:

'An absolute nobody'?

Almost 1 in 2 for Porto
11 in 18 for Portugal
8 in 10 in Europe for milan

Hes just not done well in Serie A....he has all the tools, not sure why it hasn't happened. Not an unknown though mate.

Only turned 22 in November, portugals first choice forward...id love him for 25mil.

Not sure they'd sell for €40m considering they paid €38m for him in July.

Not scored in serie a...

do they have FFP issues?

They gambled on champions league and need to show finances due to their takeover...all a big gamble with private equity investors too.

Been poor out there but an undeniably good striker.

Maybe shares of Sandro though if he came here...

Bit of a different player for me...though I think it would be interesting if we loaned sandro to a championship side till season end..think sam has seen enough though as he doesn't want to loan him.

Silva looks lethal...just not in serie a...weird.

Think they're skint now

big gamble by investors...

He's not set Serie A alight so far has he - but he was good in Portugal. Not sure €40m good though.

They'd sell for a lot less, he's been as bad as Sandro has for us this season

25mil would be a great buy I think...I like him at that price...not at his summer price, it was madness.

I'd like to think that the Mawson rumors are jarg and we are being sneaky about signing a left back.

They better be jarg.

Be arsed signing anymore Swansea players. This one doesn’t even look good playing for them.

..he impressed me when we played them a few weeks ago. First time i’d had a proper view of him ‘live’ and he did actually stand out. Big but mobile with composure and attitude. I do agree with those asking about his pace but he had a good game that night.

Reminds me of John Terry. Make of that what you will...all the same qualities.

zat its pyar click bait.

we will not be spending 25m on a 22 year old euro sriker when we are trying to offload a 5m euro 'star' who has bombed in the premier league.

we may aswell persist with our 5m gamble rather than make another 25m gamble.

plus theres the small fact of where this 25m would come from?? has moshiri just put another hotel on mayfair and big blue bill has landed on it, giving him a load more monopoly money that he likes to go on about or something??

Yes, I think people agree its subjective whether Baines was the best ever, or one of the best.

And if I was being subjective and basing it all on opinion, I'd say 'not even in the top 5'.

In terms of ability, he wasn't even better than Lescott, who kept him out of the team for so long that he almost joined Sunderland on loan

All just opinions, apart from the stone-cold fact that Baines has taken more out of the club than he has contributed. Which is a fact.
