So this left back we need will only happen when the squads been trimmed?? Shambolic IMO

..nobody knows what’s truly happening. If the Echo is to be believed the interest in the Bayern LB is genuine, but the Mail reports they are reluctant to let him go mid-season. If that’s the case, then perhaps the interest has been registered for the summer. Baines might be back soon, Allardyce might prefer to wait for the LB he wants.

AS always mr eggs you are the voice of reason

Which again begs the question as to who is in charge of our transfers?

If we are allowing Allardyce full control over who stays and who goes does this now mean he is here for the long term?

The entire point of a DoF model for running a club (which I completely agree with) is that they are in charge of the squad building to stop short termism.

..Walsh explained the process. Both he and Allardyce have to agree all transfers, if they both don’t sign it off then the move doesn’t happen. Whoever generates the interest tend to do most of the running to make the transfer happen. I think this will be the case for the next 18months or longer (if Allardyce earns an extension).

The imbalance in the side for the rest of the season may cost him not being here next season! (Hopes and prays this is true)

I actually think he's just playing the game atm mate, announces we are after a left back or centre back, causes more doubt/drop in performance from the one playing there etc (if possible) and just causes whatever club we are talking with to hike the price up that bit more

Press conferences are largely a joke about speculative offers, as the managers pretend not to know what is happening. Allardyce's body language said he was lying like a flatfish throughout those questions - but then again it's hard to know when he's not lying about something, when his lips are moving, seems to be the most common sign of him telling porkies.

The manager clearly stated previously that he wanted a left back, so why would he be playing mind games? For what purpose? He wasn't shy in speaking about targets before today.

Because we are negotiating with someone we don't want another team coming in and nabbing them of us maybe? could be a variety of reasons - 1 of course being we aren't actually after one anymore ;/

He openly spoke about Walcott a few days before any deal was completed. Before the Spurs match.
