The club doesn't usually get things wrong when it comes to selling on academy graduates. Sometimes they drop the ball with players who are like 15/16 and don't offer them scholarships (Jags and Baines) but when it comes to players that we sign on pro contracts the club have a very good record when it comes to selling them on.

Can't think of any recent examples where we have lived to regret selling one unless we were forced to (Rooney and Barkley) . That's why I'm refuse to lose my mind over the sale of Liam Walsh.

But lads who have only seen him play a few under age games and have no idea of his personality do lose their mind over it
Mad innit

Is this a club's decision or the manager's? These short term appointments aren't really helping us in that sense if you think about it.

If the club says "we're going 4-3-3 - every age group, sign players to suit" but the manager can't use that system then it all falls down. Ideally we need a younger manager whom we know will probably either match the club's desired system or will be here for a "long" time. At the minute the club can't have a style to match transfer targets to as we've gone from Martinez to Koeman to Allardyce.

It's the main reason we're doing so poorly at the minute IMO because the players we own don't suit any of the managers we have. Same reason people wanting Dyche here baffles me.

That's where a clear line of communication comes in.

A manager should know where he stands when they take a job.

It's less about systems and formations, and more about having a general basis to our play going forward.

Why does people wanting Dyche baffle you btw?

If anything, he's the perfect example of someone who has overseen a long-term development of the club from a managerial perspective.

I don't pay too much attention to the people who cry like mad when the club sends out their favourite youth team player. At the end of the day, like I said in my last post, the club has a very good record when it comes to selling youth team graduates without any regrets. There have been plenty of players with the kind of fanfare that Walsh has generated down the years that the club have let go, most never make it back to a premier league club. The ones that do, like Adam Forshaw, tend not to stay there for very long.

I think I'll trust the club's judgement on this one.

I was only giving an opinion ( Unsworth recommondation ) and staying a fact ( taken off at HT)
I live in Ireland and have never seen Walsh play
I have no opinion as to his abilities or wether he would be a player for us in the future
How you could figure out that I was pleased he was subbed st HT by what I posted is beyond comprehension
I literally have no opinion one way or the other on Walsh as like I stated I’ve never seen him play and I don’t give opinions ( unlike others ) on something or someone I’ve no idea about.
As to why he was sold FSA wouldn’t have a clue about him so it’s not a great leap of faith to assume his manager of the last few seasons said it was a good idea to sell him
I do apologise then. The way your post was worded it looks as though you used the fact to support the opinion.

I agree Unsworh was most probably behind his sale and think there may have been a falling out for some reason.

The club dont often get it wrong wuth these but I believe this one may prove to be the exception.

..who knows, Matey, I think it depends on what you read into it. At face value, perhaps Walsh is concentrated on domestic and European targets and the club want a co-ordinated effort to include the African and South American markets.

Saying that, some are suggesting this undermines Walsh’s position and perhaps the club are already recruiting his successor.
If this were true then it could not be seen as anything other than a demotion for Steve Walsh , a first step in getting him out the door or changing his role to scouting or something else more clearly defined and with less influence than he has at present.

So we replace a bad player with a not very good one

I didnt say he was a bad player mate, in act he is rather good, loads of head room for development as well, it would depend on the deal for me, its only 12 months that Celtic were knocking back 35mill bids from champions elect Chelsea for the lid. As we know many players who have done well for Celtic especially young ones have gone on to more then cut muster in PL.

He plays a lot of his games at LB. and if he was a GK he would be better than Martina.

Well he hardly plays at all and most of the times he's played for Chelsea he's played left wing or left wing-back since Conte came in (and he wasn't there last season so he's actually only played 2 or 3 times at left wing-back).

He played once or twice at left-back in 2015/16 for Chelsea - one of them against us in the cup where I don't think he had a good game at all.

Again, by any source I could find, he was the highest rated Chelsea player that day. He was really good against Norwich and definitely looked like he could tackle. Might be too much of a left wing, but still better then Cuco.

That being said, a healthy Baba Rahman will do fine.
