There's definitely mitigating factors though.

i.e. what @Brisan123 states
Exactly
It’s why Tierney will be hard to prise away from Celtic for any club
In his own words he’s living the dream that every one of us here on GOT has ie playing for the team that you love and support.
He asked his mam for a Celtic jersey for Christmas FFS , and he probably has loads of them already.
For some players it’s not all about the money ( Baines Coleman ) for others (Barkley ) it is

The only way you’ll see that is to look at old videos of the Title winning team of the 80s
Who were, for the most part, old has beens, no marks from the lower leagues and reserve players from the likes of Liverpool! Can you imagine the utter hysteria if a manager assembled that team now! Haha!

All this nonsense about ‘why are we buying from clubs below us’ look at where that team came from lads! A team is made up of 11 parts that are the best possible fit. Not 11 megastars who cannot play together on the same pitch.

you never know a players intentions until an offer is on the table. Ross is a good example as is Stones. before the Cheslea bid he appeared a down to earth kid, he'd signed a new deal and was just happy to be at Everton. That Cheslea bid and all the public courting really turned his head. Obviously leaving us for Chelsea is a step up so you can understand why he handed in a transfer request but he didn't appear like the sort of player who'd do that. Tierney may be a hardcore Celtic fan but from a professional point of view other than the chance to spanked in the CL each year what does that team or league provide? Everton would be a step up. He may not want that, he's probably really happy like Stones appeared to be but put that offer in front of him and he may be tempted. Money and the Premierleague is a massive pull.

Well seemingly they were best buddies and roommates at Charlton
It’s even been suggested that one of the reasons we are interested in signing him is to help Lookman overcome his homesickness
Again just rumour and speculation

You can just imagine the conversation:

Konsa "So what's it like at Everton mate"

Lookman "It's boss, you can come on as a sub against the RS, terrorise them, then next game you don't even make the bench"

All this "nonsense" as you put it has us with some of the worst football I've ever seen. It's because buying from teams below us can work, just that what we bought wasn't what was needed.

Sorry mate, i wasnt having a dig at anyone, I agree, what we have bought has largely not worked, but people saying we should only be buying from Chelsea or Barca are so wide of the mark!

And out of all the players we have bought from below us, how many genuinely can you say are big improvements on what we have?

Pickford, gueye, thats it. All the others have not shone or improved us in any way, combined with a relegation battle mentality means there is no-one standing up because they are used to losing games.
I said it in the summer but signing these players and wondering why the team is going backwards is amazing logic! Sure the recruitment on the whole has been poor but hardly any players from below us have improved us. So if buying the best from below us actually hasn't benefited us in any way, then doesn't that tell you something?

We're taking a massive gamble if we don't buy a left back. I'm not 100% we will stay up currently
It is comical mate it really is. Unless baines springs back fit any time soon then essentially the club's plan is to play right backs there and hope for the best. Suprised we don't ask Theo or Cenk to fill in there also

Well, let's be fair and, frankly, blunt here. We aren't going to take a player who is either in his prime or up and coming from almost any team above us who is getting regular playing time. I think most know that. But getting players on loan who aren't getting playing time, but still deemed valuable enough that they don't want to sell, from one of those teams would help us enormously in the short term providing it's in the places we desperately need to improve.

So......I guess that means anywhere but keeper.
