In a general sense its split evenly annually over the length of their contract.

Bolaise is likely 15 million. Tosun proabably about 20 million etc.

Players like McCarthy, Sandro, Mirallas, Besic we have paid for a long time ago, so our liability are their contracts.

Which is why i believe you will see players the likes of Bolaise, Schnderlin and Tosun out on loan before you see them sold unless someone came in with their book price as a bid, i wouldnt be confident of getting 15 mill for Bolaise or Schnderlin to break even, of 20 mill for Tosun, so loans it may be.

It works the other way as well, Pickford would have a book price of around 24 million, if Utd came in with a bid of 70 mill we would bank a profit of 46 mill.

Academy players have no book price and are pure profit, its why we gave the likes of Pennington a new deal, the lad pays for himself three or five times over after all his loan fees and everyone else paying his wage and we will sell at some point to a championship club banking pure profit.

Thats the simple way to account for it (and how the european sides have been calculating transfers) but the reality is that there are going to be wildly different up front fees and staggered payments.

Also, it may well balance out, for example like you used with Pickford, there may be some players we can sell at a decent amount too.

Gana for example would be £30mil lets say, that would cover several players loss on fees but would enable us to save a fortune in wages.

very difficult to get a top centre forward in jan, i reckon we might get someone on loan tho.

I think the Barbosa rumours may be true. Loan with a buy clause for summer. He looks amazing in his 2 Brazil stints but seems to be a donkey in Italy and Portugal...

Gana is old real old
Boss player but he’s old

Silva put Sigurdsson on Jorginho and now teams are copying this tactic (Spurs/Fulham).

With Gana, the RS had the most joy when he had the ball there were at least 2 players pressing him which led to some very poor play and an inability to counter.

Its quite clear that there is an upgrade needed in this position ideally someone who can play both DM and CM to suit Silvas tactics at previous clubs.

Ndombele or Neves would be ideal.

Yes, hes 30 soon also so the only way his value is going will be down.

No way should Gana be sold.

Schnerderlin, Besic and McCarthy out and Gomes + Ndombele or Decoure in.

We will likely get Europa League football next season and we need strength in depth to rotate.

Gomes, Ndombele with Gana and Davies as squad players would be great depth.

Buy Origi so he can never score against us again - then destroy his career by sitting him in the reserves and not giving him a locker - good business that

Militao
Wan-Bissaka
Ndombele
Gomes
Lozano
Augustin

Any 2 in Jan...

What do the clubs of any of these players have to gain by selling in january?

Porto are top of the Portuguese league and in the L16 of the Champions League.

Palace are likely to be in a relegation battle

Lyon are going to be changing CL in Ligue1 and either in CL L16 or the Europa League after January

PSV are going for the Eredivisie title

RBL are going for Top 4 in the Bundesliga.

All the clubs will literally have no reason to sell. All the players are playing regularly in them teams and will probably won't to see out the season.

There's virtually no chance in us signing any of those players in January. Unless we pay 10-20M over the odds and offer the player incredible wages. We might as well wait until next summer. Finishing 6th, 7th or 8th doesn't really matter that much. Plus we could still get 6th with the current players.

This is a couple of season transition that is going very well at the moment. There's no need to go over the top in January. If a bargain comes available then great. None of the above will be anywhere close to a bargain in January.

Silly reality gets in the way every time

Davies is poor.

Its pure fantasy. If we are lucky we may get a striker in on loan.

I did simplify it, it does get more complicated when you add wages to the tipping point of balancing value and loss, but its an accurate reflection of how football business and the market works not just in Europe (not sure what you mean there) but Universally including in the UK. Simply put adding up how much we can make and who we can buy on net spend of transfer fees in and out in a year is totally useless and inaccurate, its just wasting time really with all due respect.

Yep absolutely, we could make a profit on the book price of our better players, like Richarlson, Gylfi, Keane, Pickford, Coleman, Idrissa etc, we obviously cant sell Gomes or Mina. The range of profit is different as well, for example you could sell Gylfi for 50 mill and Seamus for 25 mill, but because Gylfi would have a book price of about 37 mill, we would make far more of a more profit on Coleman despite the fee being smaller.

Problem generally is these arent usually the players that you want to sell and generally cost more to replace. I give you Lukaku as an example.
