Why not use Rico in the Walcott role?
He's got enough pace and he is much more likely get dribble round players 1v1 than Walcott

Well he doesn't really play in that style either though, really.

Walcott's the only player we currently (I stress, currently) have that has that sheer pace to do that. Plus, we need Richarlison up front, for now.

Lookman is trying to do things at a higher level of difficulty than Walcott.
If Walcott tried to do some on those things he does he'd look like a complete arse.
Walcott's a one and half trick pony, run in behind and if there's no one around, shoot.

Not really.

Lookman standing still in the right-hand channel has nothing to do with trying to do anything to a higher level than Walcott.

And I'm not slating Lookman. I like him and want him to get a chance, but it's clear him and Walcott both offer different things and we missed Walcott's pace the other night.

Talk to me about his one goal in three seasons?

Maybe he hasn’t had many chances because the managers don’t believe he is up for it?
Come on mate you made a very silly statement I pulled you up your now talking in maybes. Let’s just wait and see before either deriding him or proclaiming him as a superstar

Rather than advocating the sale of first team players such as Coleman, Keane, Walcott and Gana. Surely we should be focusing on the sale or loans of players that offer little to the first team squad in January: Schnerderlin, Niasse, McCarthy and the loaning out of jagielka and Dowell.

Silly statement? Do you mean fact?

You didn’t “pull me up” you have your opinion which isn’t the same as mine.

Is it three managers now that “maybe” don’t fancy Lookman?

Yes, some may do that; admittedly, his finishing has been poor as of late. But, that's not the only string to his bow and instead he offers in many others ways.

Namely, these are his pace on the counter, his ability to get in and behind defences - stretching them - and his overall work rate when we haven't got the ball.

I would actually say he fits into our system more than Lookman does, hence why at the moment he's starting more games and Lookman is used as an impact sub.

If Walcott can improve his finishing, then he'll be a completely different threat as he does give defences a lot of trouble with his movement and his passing.

Lookman's five goals in Germany is great, but we haven't seen it here (like with Walcott as of late), so it's not something I am going to shout the rafters about.

As well, Walcott is making lots of chance which he is unfortunately not taking, yet is Lookman getting into those finishing positions? So let's be reasonable.

He's earnt his chance through his substitution performances and is great player for the future, which should be acknowledged, but he's far from the finished article.
Makes me laugh when I read, if Walcott can improve his finishing or gana can improve
His passing. These guy are 30, what you see is what you get, they aren’t improving anything anytime soon.

Don’t you think Walcott has probably spent years practicing his finishing, and it’s not worked. His missed plenty of good chances recently. That’s why t for me Lookman deserves 6 or 7 games on the bounce.

Because he's a great impact sub....

Thats more 'great' than Walcott then :)

Mate, I watch the games and that’s how I can say, I admire your conviction but at present he isn’t all what you believe he is.

Impact sub when defenders are tired, ineffective from the start and subbed!

I hope Lookman is replaced by the likes of Lozano ( not like for like I know) but that is a great upgrade

Obviously Lozano is an upgrade on Lookman, hes also a massive humungous upgrade on Walcott.

If Lookman is being touted as an impact sub then logically lozano would start and lookman on the bench...

Walcott off in a taxi somewhere.

Walcott wont improve his finishing...he only got over double figures for a great arsenal side 2ce...hes nearly 30...hows he going to improve?

Lookman wont get into the same positions as walcott as hes a left sided or central player being pushed onto the right as walcott is so poor.

if waclott was going to improve his finishing, he'd have done it by now. It's the same story as at arsenal hence why he could never nail down a first team spot. He's a good squad player for us, but i said when we bought him he'd hopefully be a stop gap for a couple of years and then become a backup if we had serious ambitions.

I cant see the value in him even being a backup when we have others who look better than him + more potential and we can get our money back and save his scandalous £120k a week wages.

If Leipzig came in with a 30m bid and PSV would sell Lozano for 35/40m to us If I was Marcel id jump at the deal

If a clueless manager came in with £20mil for Walcott then i think brands and silva would rather use that on lozano...

Dont think we missed his pace as lookman was far better stats wise...far better.

That wouldnt be enough cash to sign superior starters.

Fan of Walcott and Lookman.

Personally I think Sigurdsson could've had a rest against Newcastle and had a look at different option like:
Lookman - Richardson - Walcott
with Tosun or DCL upfront from the start.

Against lesser teams we need to use pace to get behind and it would give the full backs more width to cross

So you truly believe that every player, including forwards, plays consistently the same throughout their career? That they maintain a specific scoring rate?

The point is that most players go through peaks and troughs within their career (poor patches Vs. purple patches) and only the best stay consistently good.

That's why players throughout the career continue to train: to ensure that they are able to play to the best of their ability and maintain their best form.

He's never going to be a twenty goals a season player - that's not him - but I do believe that Walcott can start scoring goals again, hence improving his finishing.

It makes me laugh when people live solely in the here and now, rather than actually having a bit of forethought for the future and consider the past.

Improve by rekindling his form, as you mention he has previously scored goals each second, and such maintaining a scoring rate better than he currently is.

In laymen's terms: he's not scoring now, he hopefully win again (like he did last season) and ultimately improving his finishing. See, more goals is an improvement.

Would love to see Lozano given his chance at this level, can’t see it happening in January

It will be Gomes and CF if we are lucky

If competition for the right hand side came in it would be competition for Walcott and Germany or a loan move to Derby for Lookman.

In my opinion I don’t believe he will make it at Everton, same as Dowell, Kenny, Galloway, Browning, to name a few other

What form, he’s been inconsistent all his career. He has 47 England caps, making his debut at 17. If he was a good as you make out he would have a 100. And would have been a regular for Arsenal.

In the mainstay, he's been a winger for the most of his career; in that time, he' sscored 118 goals in four-hundred and forty-two matches - 0.27 goals per game.

Turning that round, that's more than one goal in every four games. I think is PL stats are slightly lower (0.23) but it's still very nearly a goal every four games.

All I am suggesting is that I believe that he's a player who can contribute a few goals in a season, as his stats suggest, whereas he's currently not meeting that.

I'm not saying he is amazing nor have I ever expected him to score a mass of goals, rather I do think he will start scoring again. Where have I said otherwise?

So in laymen's terms once again: he's currently not scoring but I think he will again. Not masses, not what a striker would, but more than he currently is providing.

I like Lookman but it's still unproven whether he will ever be a success here or in the Premier League, or will he meet the standards of Walcott - whatever that is.
