To me that stat just shows need to tackle a lot.
Look at the clubs the others on the list play for.
Kante topped it when Leicester won the league and again (1st or 2nd) when Chelsea won the league. It’s definitely not a pointless stat at all, Leicester bought Kante off the back of his tackling numbers and won the league in large part due to the fact Kante consistently tackled anything that moved.

Our game changes when we have Gueye on the pitch. More men commit themselves to attacks knowing that Gueye basically does he job of two men behind them, we leave ourselves more vulnerables to counters but Gueye is better than anyone (besides Kante) at putting a stop to them.

He can though, his passing is 9/10 (or 8.5/10, according to the stats) just fine.

It's not good enough if he's trying to act as the playmaker, but that's 9/10 not his role now we have Gomes.

As I've discussed on here with @bluestevon earlier (and he raises a good point) when Gana loses possession - for one reason or another - it puts us on the back foot. Either because it's a slack pass when we're trying to push up the field and so are exposed on the break, or because he gives it away in a bad position (personally I feel it's more often the first reason than the second.

He's an excellent player. We can look to upgrade with a player more powerful etc but they will also concede possession, because they're riskier players (i.e. Ndombele, Doucoure).

Exactly. That upgrade would also be tremendously expensive. I would ALMOST buy the idea that he's not as useful against a team like Newcastle that packs it in, but that's more of a tactical issue. His ability to cover out wide is remarkable and could more easily enable our FBs to push up higher.

Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to have another player in CM that was more versatile and could play that position if Gana gets hurt or even allow us to play the 4-2-3-1 that Silva liked to employ at times with Watford. It would be awesome to have Doucoure or Ndombele in there of course. But ST first, RB second unless they are going to give JonJoe a shot.

It's not that simple.

There are a TON of players that do that. He's simply fantastic as dispossessing the other team. And that is about as important an act you can have in the game. He also doesn't give it away, the stats show that, too, so he's hardly some reckless maniac out there, he's a darn good player.
Did you watch the Watford game? Gave the ball away twice inside the first six minutes. First 10yards outside our box, tried a little flick towards Gomes, straight to a Watford player, who’s now heading towards our goal.

Second, on his own halfway inside our half, under no pressure, tries a 25yard pass forward, straight to a Watford player on the halfway line. And they break on us again, very lucky not to be one down on two occasions.

But he never gives it away apparently.

Gana has the highest number of tackles won in the league...
Surrounded by players in the bottom half, what does that tell you. Well I will help you it means we don’t have as much possession as the top teams. And if we want to reach to top that has to improve. Gana is not the only problem when it comes to giving the ball away, Walcott & Coleman also need replacing.

Like I said a month ago, Silva to me seems like a manger that wants to dominate possession, not always that easy away from home against the very best, but people were praising the Chelsea performance. We basically had 30% possession and one shot on target. That has to improve if we want to challenge the top 4. And that will only happen with better technical players.

Wish list:
- Raul Guedez Emilinia (BR - Striker)
- Sylvain Eperte (FR - RW)
- Marlon Richtofen (GR - CM)

Get it done Brands.

It was one bad game. One. His PS rate is over 85%. Gomes wasn't any better passing the ball against Watford.
