We needed more players. We play a midfield three. Gibson Cleverley McCarthy Barry are not good enough for us to get to challenging the top 4. Davies has burst on the scene but you can't rely on teenagers to do whole seasons in the same form. That left Barkley and Gueye as two midfielders at the standard Koeman wants, and Besic injured. We needed quality in that position.

You think we're getting top 4 this season.

Not really, one assist in the season he played under Koeman. Compare that to Davies who looks more creative and is a box to box midfielder as well. Point is I think we'll be unbalanced in midfield if we play both Gueye and Schneiderlin.

There is no rationalising a numb nuts decision.

What if McCarthy leaves as has been rumoured and besic can't stay fit, as has been the case the past year or so, would that make buying schneiderlen a bad idea?

No, you've stated yourself that top 4 has to be the goal over the coming seasons. Therefore the rebuild has to start now. Those players I mentioned aren't good enough. You know it. If Koeman thinks Schneiderlin is, and he becomes available, then you get him.

Argument 1, Koeman only played Davies because he has no options etc
Argument 2, Koeman sees a future for McCarthy despite the fact the manager who doesn't trust kids started an 18yo ahead of him when he was fit

One of those arguments HAS to be wrong and yet Dave is arguing both still

Really think Koeman would love him. Very direct attacker, quick, great finisher and hard to brush off the ball.

All depends doesn't it, often it's not the assist which is the key ball in the lead up to a goal buit the ball before that, if neither chip in with many but they are constantly feeding Barkley, Davies and the fullback who then provide an assist - does it really matter?

Given that United would want in excess of 40m+ for him, and he's basically had an okay (hugely inflated by the media) season for them last year, he's not worth it - plus what type of wages will he be on?
