Who cares about net spend anyway? Getting deadwood out of the door whilst replacing them with players who will, or at least have the potential to improve us big time and in the meantime keep our net spend to a minimum sounds like a good business plan to me

We aren't 'selling to buy' in any way.

Both Schneiderlin and 'that kid from Charlton' have vastly improved us. We're the highest spenders this window ffs. And we haven't actually sold anybody this window either.

no one is doing any business this January, no point in pushing it when there's not much to be gained. Top 6 is probably too far ahead to justify overpaying for players now (and you nearly always overpay in Jan for anyone decent). Still hopeful we go on a run mind.

We overpaid for Bolasie. That statement you just said has been debunked with respect. We need another attacking option but with Koeman's comments about lookman it will be a case of 'go with what we have got' EG Walsh's man Enner.

The type of player we would "want" are rarely available in the January window. As for the "marquee" signings - we ain't got no Euro football to offer - that blocker would obviously be removed should we qualify 7th or above (cup results pending of course).

As others have said, I'd rather we get the right players in the summer rather than just buying anything for the sake of it now. Morgs and Lookman are quality signings and with some of the deadwood shipped out (albeit on loan), I'd call it a successful window. Hoping we have one or two decent signings up our sleeve though - a CB and a striker would be good.

Or Lookman on lukaku for what I have seen.

You could argue Sam Vokes would 'improve us' over Kone but would not be a signing I would like.

Looking at the current transfer market there is NO WAY we overpaid for Bolassie.

Beyond that, unless I misunderstand FFP, the Stones sale allows us to buy now, but we need those loans to be sales to help spend in the summer.

Not 100% convinced that's going to happen, but it's not a crazy narrative.

Not sure about the argument that X Y and Z improved us is valid? Shane Long would be an improvement on Kone would you wish to sign him for 15 Million?

Moshiri himself has lot of money, just can't spend big money as he'd like for one reason or another due to FFP and shoddy negotiation team.

Think the club will be used as his cash cow for underwhelming sponsorship deals for now until he can create a stadium with the big revenue.

When he delegates the stadium role to Harris and the transfers to Bill he can be very passive and within few years have the club up to a higher level of revenue so he can either bleed the club dry or sell on for a tidy profit.

I was going to respond to this drivel, but just cannot summon up the energy to do so.

And whilst you're entitled to an opinion, I don't half wish you'd keep it to yourself instead of droning on and on in your pessimistic, negative mindset.

Morgan and Gana are different players; they are intended to play together.

The improvements was having a player that can win balls AND distribute. We don't have one of those.

I don't think I am negative mate, I can explain my reasoning in depth in the Moshiri thread if you'd like. If not no problems. All opinion's.
