January Transfer Thread 2017

That's our only hope to get players is to pay over their valuation, VVD is just starting to come up on the radar, if he continues to impress for the rest of the season then I fear 'bigger' clubs will be in for him. I think January is the time to strike regarding VVD.

Could of struck for 12 million last year instead of basicly spending the same amount on funes mori

Koeman having more sense than Martinez shocker.

In all fairness, Funes had a good first season overall. I don't mind him, and he deffo 'gets' Everton. Just don't trust him to do the basics though, and I thin that's becoming evident now when he's playing under a different manager.

With regards to the players outgoing, i dont care if it is loans or permanents just as long as we get that huge dirth of rubbish we have surrounding the squads.
Loans may benefit in the long run as if they perform on loan they may become more in demand, but then under performing may make them untouchable!

My problem is, who will want Oviedo? A below average left back who dosent even have height or strength to compensate for lack of ability (if he did maybe WBA, Palace etc would go for him.

Cleverley? Average at best, failed at united, got relegated with Villa, and failed at us. Only clubs interested in him may be Championship clubs as i feel no one would touch him in the prem, i can feel a championship loan coming?

Niasse & Kone - fingers crossed for China

Lennon - i could see a hull or a burnley maybe go for him, but they wont want to pay his wages

Gibson - You would need to be in the last chance saloon to go for gibson, player of quality but cant show any sort of fitness, again i see a loan with us paying 100% wages for this one

Mirallas - could receive a small 4mil or so fee from west ham or someone like that

McCarthy- big talk in glasgow of a move to celtic coming but i cant see it happening as we would want atleast what we paid for him, plus they wont pay the wages, again only way he would go there is loan!
Bournemouth or Stoke would pay the fee though if we could

Seem to recall Watford were in for McCarthy. Out of the list from above, I think he's the only one I would be that arsed about keeping. Still think there is a player there.

We'd get more than £4mil for Kev and given Bolasie is crocked we won't be selling him in January at least.

hindsight, VVD could of been rubbish having only played in dutch/scottish leagues..

Nah. You know a good player when you see one, regardless of the league.

VVD always had 'that' factor about him, even at Celtic.

We were very interested when he was at Groingen as well, but never made the move.

Ah well, it happens.

...risk is factored into the price, he was potential but now he's proven in the Premier. As you say, there will always be ones we miss out on.

Wages will be a factor with the players we are trying to move on and this will be reflected in the transfer fees that we would get.
However, there are always clubs looking for players in January and usually clubs are slow to release players. We probably have a better chance of selling some of these next month than we do in the summer.

A couple of players are out of contract in the summer and are probably not on huge wages anyway e.g Kone and Gibson.
A couple seem to have fallen away as the season has moved on and will know they have no future under Koeman e.g Oviedo
A few are getting games intermittently at present, but are not impressing and are likely to move on or be moved on and in this category I see Cleverley and maybe Mirallas, Deulofeu or Lennon. However they are not likely to leave in January apart from possibly Cleverley if we get a good offer.

If you discount the players named above we are left with a very small squad plus some talented but untried academy players.
It is unlikely that we will be able to buy all our primary targets in January as clubs will not want to sell their best players.

Plus you dont know what coaching under Martinez would of done to him as i think he has come on leaps and bounds defensivly at southampton. That wouldnt of happened here
