No that's a fair point and I felt I was still thinking of a pre Moshiri Everton there. I suspect we would struggle to convince him to come if Chelsea was a viable option might be a fairer summation.
I'll be honest I haven't seen a lot of either of the above two. They both come with a pedigree, but I do think there is a value in having lads who have played in England and know the country. We have probably seen that a little bit with Williams this season in comparison to Mori. It's not that he's better, he's just perhaps better suited.
I think Keane at 25 million isn't the best value and in all likelihood we are a bit behind the trend. It was just used to illustrate the issue that there are good defenders in the championship and had we picked him up 12 months earlier for 10-12 million it would have proved smart business. I think Dunk would be similarly expensive and prove a decent buy.
How does he compare? Well probably not as well as the above 2, but I have doubts we will be able to get deals closed for them. If Koeman improved Dunk to the degree that he did with say VVD or Fonte I think Dunk would be playing for England quite quickly.
When comparing to Sanchez and Koulibaly it's a hard question as they are different players if not in style but in what they represent. One is a very young player who has great potential, the other you are buying a guy in his prime. Which do you think would be beneficial if you could choose one of the two? Of the general strategy I am happy for us to go for realistic signings who are approaching their prime not 5 years down the road but 12-18 months away. it's kind of what we did under Moyes that worked well and I think it would be good to replicate it again.
