'I'm confident we'll do business' - Koeman gives January show of faith
Everton boss Koeman insists he won't panic buy though

Ronald Koeman has confirmed that he will be busy in the January transfer window - trying to attract “better players” to his Everton project.

The Blues boss signed five players during the summer transfer window - Yannick Bolasie, Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Williams and Maarten Stekelenburg on permanent deals plus Enner Valencia on a season-long loan.

But he also missed out on deals for Moussa Sissoko, who elected to join Spurs, and Lucas Perez who joined Arsenal.

There are still 43 days before the January transfer window opens, but Koeman says he is already targeting players in several positions.

“Our priority is not only attacking positions, we have some positions where we are looking forward to getting better players in,” he said.

But Koeman stressed he would not be panicked into buying players who weren’t absolutely right for his plan.

He added: “January is hard and if we don’t get the right player in, then we don’t sign players, we will wait. But yes of course, we are confident we will do business.”

The words will act as motivation to players already at the club.

Koeman went on: “Of course players have to prove themselves but it’s also what I mentioned a few weeks ago.

Steve Walsh the new Director of Football at Everton shakes hands with Ronald Koeman at Finch Farm in July
“This season we like to win and fight for Europe, but from my position and Steve Walsh’s position, it’s about what we need for the future of Everton.

“Finally you make your mind up and go for the plyaers you want and need.

“We continue, and work with the players we have, and we work for what we like to have in the project, and what we need to challenge for trophies and be closer to the big teams.”

Assuming Rom is leaving we need the following over the next 2 windows as bare minimum to have a half decent squad
At least 1 Gk
Cover at RB
2 centre halves
Someone to take over from Baines
Creative midfielder
Replacement for Barry
Natural left winger
3 strikers

Lol at us.
