I wonder if belfodil is actually more competition for Barkley - fwd cam type player to hold and spread the ball and a more natural attackers instinct for goal?

You obviously didn't look too hard at his Feyenoord team or the changes he made to Pochettino's team in the second season he was there at S'ton - they went back to front a lot more quickly last season. That's the trajectory for us too. Most people already notice the changes, but you go on denying it if you like.

You can say that about any formation or tactic really

You build the formation around the playing staff on offer IMO, not the other way around

I would say that the Goodison crowd agrees with you. IT was tough going the game when Martinez was in charge, people will point to that first season but only parts of that were good really. Most of the best atmospheres at Goodison in recent times have been high energy games where the crowd has got something to get behind.

I'm not saying the football has been great this season cos it hasn't, but there are more ways to play football than passing it around the defenders.
