Okay @Devek enough is enough about Martinez(he's gone) an his 1st season, wow he got 71 points where did we finish? 5th same as Moyes did a few times and Moyes also got us 4th. Wow he got us to 2 semi finals, big whup Moyes took us to a FA cup Final. Martinez also gave us 2 4-0 hammering at Anfield also failed to beat Liverpool. Got stuffed in Russia. Signed a player who can't even play football for 13.5 mil. He played horrendous football that was boring, turned Fortress Goodison in to happy away fans land. He had 1 good season 3 years ago get over it already, we moved on.
*72 points

I'd argue otherwise, we paid a large loan fee for Barry and then have paid him very well. He's had a terrible discipline record missing numerous games over his time here through suspensions, he's also made numerous high profile errors in big games that people love to wash over (Arsenal QF, Anfield Derby 13/14, even last weekend v Leicester). McCarthy and Barry get so much praise yet have been ever presents in probably the laziest, least bothered, biggest bottling, Everton side in premier league history who have been regularly caned humiliatingly by better sides.

In truth they were two extremely average prem midfielders, one who had been good but we got him past his best so had one decent season (why have we given him another contract ffs), the other was never good enough, we overpaid on him.

It is absolutely no surprise to me whatsoever that two of the first buys through the door have been players to replace these two. People wonder why we dropped from top 7 to bottom half under Martinez, look no further than replacing genuine top 6 players like Cahill Arteta Pienaar Fellaini with average dross like Cleverley Barry McCarthy.

Excellent post! Our central midfield has been utterly awful for over two seasons, and is the principal cause in our fall down the league imo. Just how people continue to praise Barry, even describing him as value for money, when he is one of the main causes behind our regression, is totally beyond me.

I think people conflate the fact that on occasions Barry has been our best player in some really bad games with him being a really strong prem midfielder. A midfield of Barry, Mccarthy , Cleverly shouldnt be a concern for any top flight opposition and frankly sounds more like something Stoke should be selecting. We should be aiming for better than that

Manager got our record points total in the first season deserved loyalty at least in that second season...we KNOW that didn't happen, but it was undoubtedly the right thing to do. The manager had us at the business end of two cups last season and so retained my support. That was entirely rational and I wont accept it wasn't from a core of bitter and fickle fans.

Same rubbish... AGAIN!

why does it take so long between a medical and an announcement - I thought the deal was usually wrapped up before the medical or am I living in the past?
all media are saying the deal is done and will be announced. Maybe there is something to the 25 player thing, maybe it's a double deal but the likelihood it's just Everton being Everton and taking their time.

If I had to give a serious answer, he has probably trained with the team today and has just done his interviews etc probably signed his contract yesterday. But the media team haven't set up his media stuff yet.

They were as hands on as you could get.

Possibly, but never spoke in public about them until they were done - not so different from being aloof and vague! In fact often the first thing any supporter knew of a transfer was when it was announced in the paper! Any way good to see some of your man's transfers finding their true level - McGeady - Preston, Niasse - Hull and Cleverly - Watford, phenomenal!
Times they are a changing!!

yeah but player like niasse are crud, their value will decrease every minute they spend on the pitch, i would think the same of players like kone and cleverley too. We'll see.

Not really mate, in a utter crud team someone like cleverley or gofd forbid me saying this - even Niasse could end up doing okay for a brief time, enough anyway to get some other fool to decide there worth spending some money on.
