Ex-Marseille striker Habib Bamogo reveals Everton scouting role - Tribal Football
by Paul Vegas2020-01-02 19:46:51.000000
Former Olympique Marseille striker Habib Bamogo has confirmed he's now working as a France-based scout for Everton.
Bamogo admits he's been talent spotting at youth level for the Toffees for the past year.
He told Foot Mercato: "It's going to be a year in January, so it's going really fast. Me, I have an acquaintance in football, my cousin, who knew the (Everton) recruiter who takes care of the pros in France.
"He was looking for someone for young players. So, I met everyone and I was told that they were going to give me a six-month contract to see if it suited me too. I liked it, especially since I take care of young players so I see them all a little bit coming through, those who will become pro. It's something that I really like.
"I'm mainly in France. I'm working my schedule, I'm going to see the matches. Among young players, I think it's a bit different than when you recruit from the pros. There, it's up to you to discover them. Some, they are at an age where you do not know what they will become in 2-3 years so you have to try to detect the qualities and the things that you can develop, it is especially like that."
I am good today on your point we do need a striker like.Good mate what about you?
I was on about Zouma getting a new dealHe's a Bournemouth player now, but Chelsea put in a £40m buy back clause. I could see us getting Zouma and them resigning Ake
What his price tag.Rabiot has bags of talent in the middle of the park but his mum is a bit of a helmet if I remember correctly
Don’t know, would assume Juve need to generate some cash following them buying that Swedish lad but would imagine it would be around £20millionWhat his price tag.
Don't they both play in similar position (attacking midfielder). And isn't her son struggling for game time as it is.
The clip I saw he was all over the place Nymz. Right, left and down the middle. I liked the look of him.Nein, son is a CM, new guy is a right winger.

Can we sign academy or youth players from outside of England? I know there was discussion about this prior in the thread with regards to the young Carlisle centre half, but can't see mention of it relating to Europe or the rest of the world. So after one year I cannot recall us signing one french kid, even at youth level.
Midfield has to be the priority. Even considering we have Gomes and Gbamin to come back, it won't be soon enough. There is so little creativity in our midfield at the moment. If we had a creative midfielder who can pick the ball up and look forward, we would be much more dangerous. Also a midfidler who actually makes himself available to the back 4 for a pass and doesn't go hiding.
I think the ban was only UK wide wasn't it?Can we sign academy or youth players from outside of England? I know there was discussion about this prior in the thread with regards to the young Carlisle centre half, but can't see mention of it relating to Europe or the rest of the world.
Also a scout surely just brings to light the best talent with their appraisal for the club to make a judgement. I presume the French game is well established with talent recognition - it's probably hard to find a gem that others don't know about. It might just get us to the same negotiation point as other more local clubs and bigger non-local teams when it comes to trying to get a French kid on the books. I think that is a difficult role to make an impact in. I hope we get to see the new Henry and Zidane at the club toute de suite though.
