January Transfer Window 2023

Depressing but amusing we are shopping around trying to replace Maupay and McNeil a few months after buying them. It’s mistakes like that that go unnoticed by the media that set us back another transfer window, probably more due to the wage burden.

If we’d spent that summer money on Gyokores and literally any young speedy championship winger instead we’d maybe have a only a couple more points, but at least we wouldn’t need to be buying players in Jan to fill the same holes again and again and again. And we’d have a couple of players that won’t be hanging round doing sod all for the next 3 years.

I agree, we definitely need 2 attackers, but we can only spend whats available and I dont expect that to be a big figure in midseason. I'd have no problem with us dropping £25m on the right player, I just dont think Danny Ings is the answer, certainly not for anywhere near that kind of figure.
I wasn’t talking about ings, we have a billionaire owner so potentially money isn’t a problem and we have till June 30th to balance this years accounts.

I would be very surprised if Utd were willing to happily send out a first team player they've not long dropped £75m on, never mind the fact he's probably on 2x if not 3x our top earners we'd need to accomodate. Even if they were, would Sancho want to come? Can't see it in a million years myself.
He’s not getting a sniff at Utd. We’ve got a great relationship with them, and we’ll be happy to cover most of his wages.

He doesn’t have to move house or up roots to come and play here. Rashford and Antony are ahead of him in the pecking order and if they get Gakpo he probably drops to fourth.

There are clearly issues in the lads life that are more important to resolve than a loan move, from what I can tell. That said, maybe a loan/change of scene might be a positive in that resolution. But I doubt it.

Perhaps, but like you said a fresh start somewhere might be exactly what he needs.
