January Transfer Window 2023

There should be players lined up by now with a lot of the negotiations complete or near completion.

Of course, I'm speaking about a well run club that wants to keep its PL status, not this shower of Keystone Cops.

We'll stumble and fall through the next five weeks with no signings other than an underwhelming journey man coming in up front who'll sign on Januery 30th and be about as uselful as tits on a bull - and then dance on the trap door until May...maybe this time falling through.
The difficulty is getting players to sign for a club in a relegation battle. Players will probably hang on to evaluate their options before accepting an offer from us.

Doucoure and Keane out in January, even on loan, as well as Rondon off the books surely means roughly £250k a week off the wage bill already at least if not more. Hope that means at least a good loan in if not a decent transfer. With Davies, Mina, Townsend, Vinagre and probably Coleman also set to be off the wage bill before our next financial period that'll be another probably £400k a week it might open ourselves up to spend a bit more.

Mad really that going off of that we'd lose at least £650k a week or £34m a year off the wage bill come the summer and the only meaningful loss is really Coleman, and that's more sentimental now than anything else. It's no wonder we're in the state we are when there's at least half a million a week spent in the club for absolutely no benefit, nevermind some others that will add to it too.

Just to clarify on Moise Kean;

The agreement entails the obligation for Juventus to definitely acquire the player’s registrations rights, subject to the achievement of certain given sporting objectives by the end of the season 2022/2023. The agreed consideration for the definitive acquisition is € 28.0 million, payable in three years.

That is from Juventus' press release at hte time. There is an obligation, like all obligations it requires certain conditions. There isn't a fact anywhere which states what that objective is. However its widely believed its to do with qualifying for the top 4. It isnt known if it meant in either season, or both seasons.

Either way, they qualified last season via 4th place and currently sit 3rd this season.

Additional - it's also worth noting that ALOT of press have ran with the story of Juventus trying to find a buyer for Kean when they have to pay, which if true means the condition has already been met. Some of the wording in some suggests "they'll only pay if they can find a buyer" but that makes no sense. If they want to sell immediately to redeem their money, they wouldn't buy in the first place if they had to.

I cant tag him for some reason, but the bobble spoke in summer about Everton know that money is coming next year. (this year). Which means the conditions have probably been met.

Where is this made up rumour of PIckford leaving in the summer come from? He was in contract talks a week or two ago... He will sign a new deal. He's a very good goalie but not elite level.
I'd sell him in a heartbeat if it was around £50m and we were guaranteed to bring in two genuinely quality players with the money.

Having a world class goalkeeper isn't as important as having a steady goalkeeper plus two better starting XI players than we currently have (what could be achievable if we sold Pickford for a tidy sum). Especially when you're Everton and the height of your ambitions is to simply remain in the division.

Alas, with the clowns in charge of the decisions at Everton, that money would be well and truly wasted, so we really have to keep him at all costs.

That said, I can see him joining Tottenham in the summer or in 18 months time once Lloris' contract is up (in June 2024).

lol

Which have been met. Otherwise juve for past 6 months wouldn’t be trying to offload to every club in Europe

They can activate the deal at any time. He wasnt playing well so they wanted to find a buyer to push him to and get him out the door.

The deal apparently requires thsm to finish top 4 which is expected.

Hence the second sentence in bold!

im sort of prepped for the next month of complete nonsense, no signings until a random player loaned in on deadline day. The entire world knows we need a striker, we know we need a striker and instead we will loan in a winger whose agent has the ear of Moshiri.

apparently fulham are interested in Doucoure, no mention of a fee here, unless they are prepared to offer actual cash so we can replace him, I dont think we should sell. I know hes not in the starting line up, but hes directly behind that. we play with 3 CM's and we have 6, but Garner is injured so we need to keep the ones we have.

I don't believe it is as simple as that Dave.... I wish it was.

If you are trying to bring in a player that is not wanted at his current club then maybe it is that simple.
If you are trying to sign a player that his club doesn't want to sell because he is important or because he is a player that his club feels is continuing to rise in value then it becomes much more difficult. Kudus would be an example .

Unless you agree to pay silly money then I think a lot of deals will happen nearer the close of the window for the better players.

There is no doubt that our transfer activity will also depend on players leaving. We know Rondon is gone and we are lead to believe that Keane, Kean, Mina and Doucoure may leave and they certainly would create space in the payroll and squad.

Truth is we haven't spent much in the last two years and have mostly downgraded and have sold most of our goals and creativity, that's the main reason we are struggling. We've got from James, Bernard and Richy, to Iwobi, Gray and Gordon, all three of whom would be squad players at most clubs. I wish I had faith in our recruitment because our PL status hangs on this window, at least we appear to be scouting some good players(Kudus, Diaz et al)but when push comes to shove Onana apart we haven't been able to get them over the line because of our financial constraints/inability to close deals.
