January Transfer Window 2023

Chelsea have resumed their old transfer policy of signing any youngster that has potential by the looks of it. Shouldn't be allowed...there should be restrictions on the size of the squad you can have including in the u21 and in the number of players you can loan.
See on the one hand it's not fun seeing all the talent get hoovered up by mainly them and city but on the other it does mean they will inevitably create their own bottlenecks later down the line to allow players like Livramento, Lavia, Abraham etc. To leave when if they didn't do this there would be no chance. United are bound to at some point have to let one of their wingers go for example.

It's happened already with Diallo who is on loan at Sunderland, he looks a PL player tbh but he isn't going to get into the Utd team anytime soon ahead of £80m Antony who was bought by the new manager.

I thought they had put a cap on the number of players they could have on loan now, basically breaking theirs (City and Chelsea) model of hoovering up talent and loaning out. Didn't Chelsea have 50 odd players out on loan?

I believe there is a rule from fifa on this but not in place until 2024 and does not apply to u21 players. So basically free reign still for both city and Chelsea to buy everything that looks good on paper and for those that do not make it, they can still sell them to other clubs later in their development often as a profit.

I don't think it's that restrictive. Something like they can only loan out a certain amount over 20 or 21, but under that they can loan as many as they want.

Should stop long contacts and players rotting in the reserves for years though

Pathetic from fifa
