Whilst I agree with the sentiment, we've had a 20 goal a season striker about 3 times in the last 30 years. They're not that easily found, let alone then convinced to play for us.

It's not something that can ever be a 'fact', because you'd have to play the games again in an alternative universe where we didn't have him. It was always a ridiculous argument, Lukaku was just one in a long line of players that people didn't appreciate properly until they'd gone.

Exactly so we should cherish them and not claim that “sharing the goals around” or driving them to Man Utd ourself will in any way improve Everton.
