As much as I'm compelled to spoil any positive talk about Lukaku, I do agree on Pickford.

If we carry on past January with the ironing board in goal, we'll be gone by April.

I agree with the logic of this, IF (and it’s a huge if with us) the money can go towards quality attacking / creative options such as Kudus or similar. Pickford is great but the difference between him and Begovic over the rest of the season is maybe a few goals conceded (bearing in mind JP himself cost one against Bournemouth). A quality forward or two would be worth far more at the other end.

If the club wait until the last few days of the window instead of having deals done in the first week we are just digging our own grave.

Reports say Ajax want over 40 mil for Kudus. That would be more than we get for Pickford and doesn't solve the missing striker issue we face

I wouldn’t take less than 40 for JP, he’s england number 1 and in the best form of his career at a good age for a keeper. 18 months on the contract is not at the panic sale point yet.

Bearing in mind the sale would still allow us to do whatever business we were already planning (Gyokeres / Elanga?) plus spend the extra cash. I think we need one genuine quality attacker who can impact right away and 40m is the going rate. If the only way to get that is to sell JP it has to be considered.
