Looking Like Manure are signing Weghorst from Burnley for £12M-ish. Quite a shrewd signing if it comes good.
Not at all. It is simply because he is Dutch and Ten Hag is Dutch. Same reason for the renewed United interest in Depay. The same way Wolves only buy from Portugal, Arsenal under Wenger usually bought French and BeneathUs usually bought from Spain in his [Poor language removed] days. Our Board are not the only lazy and unimaginative board out there.

Pickford as good as gone I've heard
We should be listening to offers for all of our players, particularly those who don't have relegation clauses in their contracts. This isn't a case of accepting our fate that we will be a Championship club, if Pickford does leave in this window I'd want the money received to be reinvested into players who we believe can turn our fortunes around. However, a prudent club (which we are not) will be thinking of contingencies now in case the worst were to happen.

If the only way we can do business this window is by selling players then absolutely everybody is fair game in my opinion.

100% agree - I’d be happy to never see these frauds in a blue shirt again. Richarlison was the last one I actually cared about, because he gave a monkeys.

Sadly, we would probably have to practically give most of them away and still pay part of their stupid wages to get shut of any of them.

Got to agree and try and get the best fees we can now to re invest/off load big wages and if we do manage to stay up that’s fine because we need a massive recruitment programme anyway probably won’t get anyone better than Pickford but if we got the recruitment right we could have a team of average players with the odd bit of quality, I wouldn’t expect this club to get that right tho

Pondering, mulling or considering?

This is the tittle tattle make of it what you will.

Everton are keen on both Coventry City forward Viktor Gyokeres and Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, TEAMtalk have claimed.

This claim on Brereton Diaz was backed up by The Sun yesterday, with Rovers reportedly slapping a £15m price tag on the Chile international despite the fact his contract runs out in the summer.

According to the same outlet, the Toffees are unwilling to pay this amount to lure him to Goodison Park this month and Premier League rivals Leeds United, Newcastle and West Ham aren’t prepared to fork out that much for him either.

TEAMtalk believes Rovers are determined not to sell the 23-year-old as they look to continue pushing for promotion – and that’s why Frank Lampard’s side are more confident of striking a deal for Coventry’s Gyokeres this winter.

They weren’t alone in their pursuit for Brereton Diaz and they won’t be for the Sky Blues’ talisman either with Leeds United reportedly prepared to fork out £14m to secure his services.

They are more confident of signing Gyokeres than Brereton Diaz though – and that won’t please Coventry’s supporters who will be desperate to see him remain in the Midlands beyond this window. Their likely takeover could be a game-changer for them in terms of their hopes of retaining the 24-year-old.

Brereton Diaz could be a very attractive option considering he can play both in a central role and out wide, with the Chile international able to be a real threat on the wing as well.

His versatility could allow Dominic Calvert-Lewin to play up top with the Chilean out wide, giving the Toffees two major threats in the final third that they can utilise to drag themselves up the table.

However, £15m is far too much for a player who has just a matter of months left on their contract, so you wouldn’t blame the Toffees if they waited until the summer to make an approach.

Gyokeres could be a great signing with his consistency probably the most impressive thing about the 24-year-old. He can be a real game-changer when in top form and would certainly relish the opportunity to play in the top flight.

He didn’t get the opportunity to ply his trade there during his time with Brighton and Hove Albion – and will be keen to prove to the Seagulls that they should never have sold him.
