Appreciate the state we’re in and when you mix that with a healthy dose of frustration and relegation fear we’re left with the what ifs and must dos….. what I don’t get it the revisionism around Gylfy. He was never good enough to carry or lead the team and I don’t agree that blaming everyone around him nullified him I think it just highlighted his shortcomings.

He’ll probably go down as one of the biggest wastes of money in the clubs history and the way he finished it all off just added to the disaster of his signing.
I don’t think it’s revisionism. He was never a leader and was vastly overpriced. If we had bought him for 20m, the numbers he returned would be considered good. That’s not his fault though.

But he created chances and could pick a pass out of nothing, which on numerous occasions helped to pull a result out for us.

24 goals and 17 assists (in the league) over 4 seasons. None of our current midfielders or wide forwards players will get near that record. Not sure any of our strikers will either.

So let’s not pretend he didnt contribute and was a waste of money. We need a player with his capabilities now.

Opinions are what they are and it’s all good.

From my perspective I think it is revisionism and I’m not pretending and we didn’t buy him for £20m. Those numbers aren’t great for what we were meant to be buying and especially so for a designated free kick and penalty taker.

Yeah he contributed but personally, I don’t think he did anywhere near enough.

Demari Grey is sitting on 5 goals, Gordon is on 3, Iwobi is on 1 goal
and 6 assists all not a million miles away and playing in a terrible team.

Anyway……..

Everton are weighing up all options as they have held talks for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, as reported by the Daily Mail (10 January). According to Sky Sports [transfer centre, 10 January, 18:59), Nottingham Forest are also keen to sign Danjuma, and the Toffees could face strong competition for his signature.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has suggested Everton will have to sell players if they’re to match Frank Lampard’s transfer wishlist.

According to Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser (10 January), Everton are looking to land Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma, with the Toffees “desperate” to finalise a deal.

According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, the Toffees are in talks over a deal to bring Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma to the club on loan this month.

Talks are being held at a “tentative stage” as the Toffees have also checked on Lorient pair Terem Meffi and Dango Ouattarra this month.

Blackburn Rovers would accept an offer of £15million for Ben Brereton Diaz, with Everton, Leeds United, and Newcastle United all interested in the 23-year-old. But no side is willing to pay that amount, according to Express.

Eldin Jakupovic has agreed terms to quit Everton and join Los Angeles FC, the MLS club have confirmed on their Twitter handle (10 January).

Manchester United are willing to offer Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford a wage of around £200,000 per week, according to (Lying Scumbag Red Top)

Saint-Etienne are reportedly in advanced talks to secure the services of Everton left-back Niels Nkounkou in the January transfer window. According to Le Parisien journalist Benjamin Quarez, he could move to the French side on loan in the coming days.

Southampton are one of a number of clubs eyeing up a move for out-of-favour Everton defender Michael Keane, according to reports. Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas confirmed that the Saints are looking at a move for the Manchester United academy product, who has played just once for Frank Lampard's side this season.

Keane's contract on Merseyside expires in the summer of 2025.

The problem with Siggurdson was that he had no pace or athleticism. Which would have been fine except we surrounded him with the likes of Rooney, Klaasen, Gomes, Allan, James, Davies, Schnederlin, Bernard etc.

Probably assembled the slowest, least mobile/athletic midfield in history at a point when the rest of the teams in the league were getting faster.

Siggurdson would have been fine in a team with pace and runners around him. Had quality in and around the box, was a cool and composed finisher, good set piece delivery - miles better than our options now.
Disagree - he was crap.
He was the biggest coward on the pitch, hiding in plain sight and getting himself marked out of games, or putting in half arsed tackles and presses - he is worse than our current midfield options in every way except probably passing, and even then most of his passes went backwards. Overrated, overpaid imposter.

James was the one we should have kept - he had proper stardust in his boots.

Is Nkounkou still with us? Thought he was already out on loan somewhere
