He’s 31 in
July and is a proven prem forward,
If it was 10mil With 5mil in add ons if we stay up, I think that’s a good deal. Also he would put serious pressure on Dominic Calvert-Lewin which is what he needs, he’s had tosun, rondon, and maupay the last few years, knows if he’s fit he starts. And it would be the same With Diaz imo
If it was £50M and we stay up it’s money well spent. Relegation will finally finish this club. Every single thing possible needs to be done to avoid relegation, make no mistake about it.

“It was a surprise for me because I knew him, but not a lot and I found a really fantastic defender because he has all the quality that a defender needs.

“He’s powerful, he has a lot of energy, tactically intelligent, really aggressive in the duels and so he can play in different positions and this is really important.

“He played really well as a left-back when Digne was out and so really pleased to have him in the squad.” - Carlo Ancelotti

I trust Carlo over you.
You are correct. If the blend and formation is not right then good players can look awful. Alex Ferguson was good at getting that right which is why his decent but not worldie squad won the pl in his final season.
There are not really any awful players in this league.

Yeah I think we go to Villa and say here’s 10m over a year or three. And certain clauses like if we scores 10 goals a season you can have another million each time and if we stay up each year you can have another million etc. we need to play some hardball with teams because if we pay big money for him and he gets injuries then we are at square one.

Ings would be such an insane move in almost every way. It’s not like he’s unbelievable, he’s very good on his day and when he can be fit, which isn’t often for either. 30, no resale value, high fee, injury prone, high wages and we wouldn’t even play a style that suits him.

People want to act like Maupay is the worst player in the world but there’s no indication to me that Ings wouldn’t turn out exactly the same. Maupay would look 10x better if we actually played to his strengths instead of trying to play like he’s a 5ft Calvert Lewin.

It’s a massive reason why Lampard can’t escape blame with what’s gone on this season, he has only one plan and way of playing. I personally think our squad isn’t dreadful but at the same time we’ve got awful, selfish forwards that can’t finish, so play to their strengths and play a system that creates chances, we don’t, we lump it or expect those selfish forwards to basically do everything themselves which they’re no where near good enough to do.

Ings, Aubamayang, Weghorst, Kane or Haaland, it absolutely does not matter what sort of centre forward we’d bring in that is not the real problem, that’s only looking at things purely surface level. We need to change how we play for the squad we HAVE not the squad we want. Lampard has to realise this.

No, it's not great - but is he really getting the optimal performance from each of them? I don't expect miracles, but 9 defeats in 12 gets you the sack at any club with any pretence of ambition. The argument that the likes of Gordon has hamstrung Frank doesn't really stack up when Frank made a huge play of keeping what he called a "special" player. So he must have rated him. If he didn't, he'd surely have looked to sell. If he did rate him, his judgement must be called into serious question if he is getting all he can out of him...
I don't think he is, no.

But it is also hard to get 'optimal performance' out of inconsistent or simply bad players.

Gordon is what he is. He should never be starting games for us yet in the PL yet the club - and Lampard - have lumped a lot on his shoulders, some of it through choice, some through need.

The McNeil signing is friggin stupid. He's at least won us 3 points like with his finish v S'ton.

Gray is what he is. A talented player who can never patch it together consistently.

He’s a proven goal scorer in this league and has a bit of snide about him. Not a favourite of mine by any stretch of the imagination but if he bags enough goals to keep us up I’d give him my last Rolo. Beggars can’t be choosers, and doing nothing finishes us.

Sell Gordon to Spurs or Chelsea for as much as we possibly can and spend the dosh plus any budget we have on Tammy Abraham. [Poor language removed] or bust.

Exactly I agree. I would take him all day long. But we can’t be held to ransom. We have to approach Villa with a decent offer but not Tosun or Dele Ali style deals that cripple us for years. A loan with an option to buy would be great for us.

Loan with obligation Kudus, nobody else is going to throw £30m+ on him atm outside a Newcastle and they aren't set up for him in that system.
Vinagre sent packing and try for Danjuma on loan to fill that loan spot, Godfrey covers left back.
Even if we're completely broke the numbers would add up for that and give us actual attacking threat straight away.
