Are we sure about the loans spot thing? I know it has been done to death on here, but when I looked up PL rules, it said clubs can make 2 domestic loans at any one time and 4 loans in a season in total.

Also:
- Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window.
- A Premier League club may loan not more than one of its goalkeepers to another Premier League club.

With the exception of Welsh clubs competing in the competitions listed under Rule V.6.2, loans from a club in membership of another National Association do not count towards the above quotas.

That's from the PL website. So my reading of that is that you can make as many foreign loans as you wish.

My dad just laughed his head off at that! He reckons Clough senior was a Greaves level poacher (albeit mostly outside the first division) and then got snapped in two by some grock and was never the same again.

I think it was Bob Stokoe who injured him. I certainly remember reading Clough never forgave him because Stokoe came over and suggested he was playacting.

We are up against the wall due to FFP and four or five people are making the decisions that's why it's all slow and muddled and thus usually bad

Yeah I’ve tried to look at this before and never seen an actual rule limiting foreign loans. It seems to be assumed you’re limited to two but I’ve never seen why.
