January Transfer Window 2023

Read the Athletic article from yesterday. There’s very little money and hardly any room for manoeuvre because of our financial position. The market we’re operating in is loans and transfers where the sellin GB club agrees to most of the transfer fee being deferred and spread over future windows.
A lot of teams do loan to obligation,
Spurs have done it for at least 5/6 players, wolves have just gone it. I think it’s something we should be looking at.

The bobble said there was some money to play with, but not a fortune. The mad thing is we could stretch ourselves and have till June to balance this years accounts. Spend 30mil now and sell Pickford, DCL or Gordon before the 30th June. Or potentially go down and lose at least 150mil, maybe more.

The amount of big earners Wev got of the wage bill over the past couple of years and it doesent seem to have made a bit of difference
It’s probably made at 30mil of difference. Wolves, West Ham and villa all have bigger net spends than us over the last 6 yrs, but it’s obviously the wages and the amount of managers and staff paid off that had killed us.

I thought ffp was close to resetting itself for us?

Yes, exactly, however once we got taken over there should have been a plan and we should be doing what is happening to Newcastle now. 3rd in the league and semi final of a cup. Yet, here we are, relegation fodder…. Again. 500m pound on poor signings. I actually don’t think one of them under Moshiri has been good.
Yep, Newcastle brought in a brand new board, signed a top DOF in Ashworth from Brighton & then found a manager who had a vision with the DOF. They’ve signed players as part of a system, and it’s worked perfectly. They’ve not even spent crazy money like people expected them to.

FFP never resets. It's arguably only going to get worse for the next 2 years

How can it get worse when we’re in profit on player sales for 2 yrs and by the summer witt 6/7 out of contract a few players we don’t want will only have a year left, the wage bill has probably gone down 50mil in 3 yrs.

I'd agree that the big spends of a few years ago must now have dropped out of FFP (or be close to dropping out) and the massive COVID write offs (-£170m) should be dominating our accounts so FFP should be something we don't have to worry about as is P&L with the COVID write off.

even if we do stay up this season which is hard to imagine, next season will be more of the same scrimping and saving. Selling our few decent players for mediocre ones
It’s going to be a long road, but I’d rather we did that I’d sell all the players with any decent value and target young players and try and build something, we will still have to loan and get the odd 30yr old on a cheap/free deal, but that’s the way we have to work now. Get in the ground in the prem hopefully and get new owners.

Cos we lost absolutely shed loads in 2019-2021 plus the inevitable Lampard firing and Co. Plus the lost dodgy USM deals. The club is tanking money like no tomorrow without even getting into relegation

How so? Our losses are getting less and it only covers a three year rolling period doesnt it? Or are you talking about the stadium
I’m pretty sure the stadium is separate. I remember reading before planning permission was given all
The money spent on all
The early stages maybe 30/40mil it was on our accounts. Once planning permission was in, all that can be put on the build. Someone may not better than me how it works
