Yes I know, clutching at straws but it’s still a monopoly over us. We spend 500m in say 5/6/7 years and that’s still affecting us now, why? We have got rid of most of the players who came in during that time.
It’s all the detail, on a player by player basis. When your record signing doesn’t even show face anywhere on the planet for the last year of his contract, and you get zero proceeds, his entire contract is a “loss” spread evenly over the life of the contract. Normal teams firstly dont buy players that will be worth a sod all when they have one year left (unless they are incredible and worth the hit) or at worst sell such players for at least £15mill to Everton etc before it gets to that stage.

That’s just one player, we have so many examples through bad buying, bad selling, or just bad luck that factor into our P&S situation. Net spend is a really really bad indicator. It gives a good indication of how good a squad should be, but just confuses matters when talking FFP or P&S. That’s why Chelsea are dishing out 8 year contracts. Only one eighth of that fee hits each years accounts, regardless of when they make the payments.

Risky 8 year contracts though and players that might not adapt. Paying big money for players like that. We are still suffering the 5 year contracts of players who turned out to be garbage.

There has to be a way. There has to be a way for us to find some money to sign some players. Even if we sell Gordon for example. Let’s rinse a club like they all do to us and get some players in with the money quick. But defo not Maupay’s and McNeil’s.

Gomes probably fetch like €2.5m.

No one will buy Dele. Mutual consent?

If Davies is gone (contract expires) we may keep Gbamin as back-up.
I find the Dele deal weird. I actually didn’t mind what he did for us when he played. But he’s not worth bringing back and playing to pay spurs 20m every 20 games or whatever. In that sense we are best to cut losses with him and release.
